Having lived in both places, I'm torn. NOLA is great for culture and having fun, and I love the people. I'll probably raise kids here, but suburban Charlotte would be a much better setting for that. They've got themselves a nice little murder problem too, though it's a little more predictable.

Every place is great and every place is shite. Just depends on what you experience and what you make of it while there.

Rock on.

I moved up to Charlotte about 2 years ago and absolutely love it. It is very much a transplant city though, so most the younger people have gone home for the holidays and explains the thinner crowd. If I were you I'd stay uptown and hit the 5th Street bars after the game. The epicenter is nice but bars there tend to attract more of the affliction crowd. If you're still in town tomorrow hit up Heist brewery in Noda for brunch or any of the several other breweries really. Hope you enjoy the clean, beautiful, city with typically great weather.... And GO SAINTS.

Also you might want to check out Cans after the game. It's next to a bar called All-American in southend. It's pretty party but outside of uptown.

My experience there (and also in the Outer Banks) was that the seafood is very good (the actual creatures caught from the sea) but that they don't know how to cook or season it right. This one place in the Outer Banks we had some of the best shrimp I've ever had, the actual shrimp, but I wanted to go back there in the kitchen and do it myself. Bland.
