Donte Fowler would be my next choice.

Fowler is a top-10 lock, possible top-7. Only way we get him is if we trade up.

ETA:

Frick!! Why couldn't we just lose to TB. It seems insignificant but that drop from 8 to 13 is getting bigger and bigger by the day.

I would be happy with that pick. I think he is still there at 13. Really not that impressed with Shaq Thompson. Great athlete but such a raw talent.

I'd love to get Dupree at 13, and it's an actual possibility.

Which is the same thing he scored on the wonderlic. No thanks! No need for anymore dumbasses on the team.

I don't really care about Wonderlic scores, especially for an EDGE. Johnny scored something like 32 or something like that and look how he's played/developed. If you can ball you can ball. I don't care if you know how old Annie is if she's twice as old as her brother who is three times as old as Mary.

He's not a QB, and personally I think Bud will be a lot better than Fowler, Beasley, and Gregory.

I'd be shocked if 5 DE/OLBs (Ray, Gregory, Fowler, Beasley, and Dupree) are drafted in the top 12. At least one of those guys will be there if we want to go in that direction. If all 5 are gone, then someone like Scherff or Cooper are sitting there.

True

We should get a nice player at 13 regardless

Exactly, which is why I'm still glad we beat Tampa. I know it was already a shitty season, but losing to the worst team in the league would have been a bad way to end it.

Dupree might just be a combine freak. Anyone seen any highlights of the guy? All I heard was 21 sacks in 3 years at UK.

Would go nuts if we got Beasley. As a Clemson fan, you'll never find someone who plays and works harder than Beasley. If you thought this board went nuts over Butler's shoulders, wait until you saw what they'd do over Beasley's biceps.

Also, Stephone Anthony would be a huge, MASSIVE upgrade at ILB for the Saints. Incredible coverage as a LB and ran a sub 4.6 40.

He's still a bit raw, but those are pretty good numbers playing in the SEC. He racked up a lot of TFLs too. I saw a comparison likening him to Jamie Collins.. I think that's a fair comp playing in the 3-4

Supposedly a high character guy, too. You know that will catch SP's eye.

The difference between the 8th pick (what we would have had with loss to TB) and 13 is huge. I'll be very happy with Scherff though if that's the way they want to go.

Was literally praying for us to lose to Tampa for this very reason. Low teens is so different than late singles.

Why? And so.

Beating TB was a lose-lose for the Saints. Not only did it drop us 5 crucial spots, it also gave TB the #1 pick and Jameis over the Titans. The season was already a colossal disappointment. Who gives a frick if we had one more loss to a bad team during a season nobody is going to remember 3 years from now.

Dupree has all the athleticism, character, physique and skill set you want in a prospect. My only thing after re-watching some of his games is that he tends to disappear/take plays off every now and then. He was productive and a playmaker when he turned it on, but there were stretches where he didn't. He's going to need to work on his consistency and motor at the next level.

I told my friends we should hop on the tank train. Now they are seeing my point. from a top 10 pick @ the 8th spot to 13 is huge in this draft class. Hopefully someone drops. Almost every year someone does. Let's just hope he is a fit for the team.

Agree to disagree. While you won't have as good of a selection at 13 as 8, great players can be had at any point in the 1st.

I can just as easily say who gives a frick about Jameis Winston. You're making two assumptions that you have no idea about. The first being that Jameis Winston is going to be a good NFL QB. The other being that the Titans would take Winson if they had the #1 pick. There's no way for any of us know either, so it's a pointless hypothetical.

The only way I would advocate tanking/losing is if we had 1-2 loses, the #1 pick was in sight, and there was a slam dunk selection for #1. None of this is the case, so I am never going to wish a for a loss for 5 draft spots. I just can't believe that some of you would hope for your own team to lose to the worst team in the league, who is a division for, and was winless at home just to be 5 draft spots higher.

I'm sure the fans don't at all, but you're delusional if you think the players and coaches, none of which give a frick about 5 draft spots, care about how they end the season vs the worst team in the league.

Only problem with Dupre is he is a little raw, but on pure athleticism, I would be salivating if he were our pick.
