Payton can figure out how he best fits/works this year. I do not think our viewing of him in spot duty at three different positions is sufficient input to judge. I like the line Payton is using that the best five O linemen will start. Who and where to be seen. Let the competition heat up.

Adam Schefter is reporting on NFL Insiders on ESPN that the Saints are making trade inquiries and are in discussions for the Cowboys guard Ron Leary.
The Cowboys had placed a $2.553 million second-round tender on Leary. The asking price must be steep. This might mean Peat will be the Saints RT.

I hope we don't end up overpaying out of desperation, since we neglected the position all offseason. But I suppose it's good news that we are interested.

Agreed. Leary is a marginal starter with bad knees and only one year remaining on his contract.

That's what worries me. I won't pretend to have watched a ton of Leary's film, but it's fair to question why he was benched for a rookie, and if he was made to look better than he is because of his strong supporting cast. While La'el Collins had some highlight plays as a rookie, he did struggle with consistency (blasphemy on this board, I know), but was still viewed as the better option over Leary.

With that being said, Leary is most likely still a better option than what we currently have. It's just a matter at this point of what is fair trade compensation, and what the team would do about his contract (let him play the one year out, or extend upon trading for him).

A sixth and a thrown in player(like edebali or something) would be worth the risk
