Just curious as to what others think. Especially in light of no other nfl teams wanting him:

1) Why is Winston on this team?

2) Why is he (so far) the #1 backup?

ETA: don’t have a point to prove here either way. Just curious if these questions are super hard to give an opinion on. Some people are having a lot of trouble answering.

Why rush Haener? Let him ride the 3rd spot for a year and Jameis can leave after the season. Give Haener every opportunity to learn tge playbook.

As flawed as Winston is id still rather him coming if rather than rushing Haener for no real reason.

That cost you a player you can't protect. Pick one we lose?

Thats the counter.

He should not be the back up on this team... If Haener can't cut it then taysom can run a more efficient offense than Winston. Winston still looks like he is trying to figure things out which is inexcusable at this point with the amount of time he has had in this offense.

But no other nfl teams wanted him. So why do you think k this coaching staff has him where he is? Surely they are sabotaging their jobs?

Two simple questions for you:

Is this your first year as a Saints fan

Where have you been for the last three years

But if nobody else wants him, and there are several other options we can get, why does this staff have him on this team in this position?

I mean I liked the jameis signing initially and what he did before he got injured against the bucs... But what I have seen since then was a qb who got outplayed by Andy Dalton and now a guy who seems lost in preseason action... He's spent

Ok. So given all that.

1) why is he here?
2) why is he 2 on the depth chart?

So the saints should handle their roster based on what other teams do? Is that your thinking?

I’m simply asking opinions on those two questions.

1) good locker room presence
2) maybe he shouldn't be... (Also applies to question 1)

Eta... Also because final cuts haven't been made... Although I would be shocked if he's cut.

Jameis is on the team because you can’t give the team to a rookie of Carr goes down.

Taysom isn’t the #2 because you’d have to play him too conservatively in his other roles if so.

This is discussed and resolved every year.

Jameis is a good backup for Carr but I figured Winston would have been a QB1 on another team given how long he has been in the league. Surely 31 other GM’s are not clamoring for JW to be their guy.

I’m no fan of Jameis. He’s terrible back there. I’m just saying I get the logic.

There are posters on here that said he’s the best qb2 in the entire nfl. That’s why….
