So is a rusty, first game back Trubisky a better option than a very familiar with Saints defensive scheme Daniel? I know Daniel is a backup but I’m thinking his history of practicing for years against the Saints defense may make him a bit too comfortable. Honestly, I think our defense stymies either qb but I’m thinking Trubisky starting isn’t that bad.

uh

And Daniel hasn't been with the Saints since 2012. Dennis Allen wasn't even on the staff in 2012, he was the HC of theRaiders, and we probably have maybe 1 guy that I can think of that was even on the team on D in 2012.

He was there in 2017 but him being familiar with any defense is just laughable.

Chase Daniel is a good quarterback. I've been amazed that he hasn't emerged as a reliable starter somewhere. Seems like bad luck or weird circumstances everywhere he's been. I think if given the opportunity he could develop into a solid QB. I'm more afraid of him than Trubisky.

Dude has made a nice living being a backup QB.

Daniel has generated $24.3 million over his career. That equates to $311,594 per pass thrown or $261,337 per yard ran. Daniel is No. 72 on the all-time earnings list among quarterbacks. Should he receive all $10 million of his deal, his career earnings would stretch to $34.3 million; only 51 quarterbacks have ever netted that much over a career.

This was an article before the 2018 season.

The backup QB might be the most cush job in the NFL. Pay is good. Don't get beat up like a starter does, so usually, can play in the league a long time. It's a great job to break into coaching.
