Here me out guys

QB set
RB set
WR set (thanks E Sanders)
TE set
OL set (realistically)
DL set (realistically)
LB(we need help here)
CB set
ST set

For 2020 season
Yes would love to add depth to obvious positions of need, but we need to extend Ram, Kamara, Latt

Trade out of RD1 and get what we can for 2021 draft picks. That Sanders pick up was huge. We need LB big time.

This is likely last year for Drew (maybe 2021 but uncertain) Stock pile picks for years after Drew

No get the best player that you can get in the first round of this draft. Could be our last chance to win one for a while

saints past history has shown they would be more inclined to turn down 3 2nd round picks for the 24th pick rather then make the trade

maybe its because its too much work figuring out who to select with those picks but other teams understand the more picks the better, but the saints are always seeking less picks not more

Saints don't draft like that. They won't look at it as a position thing or a numbers game.

They zero in on specific players that fit and who is the best player.

If they rank Isaiah Simmons as the 2nd best player in the draft and he somehow falls to the 10th pick, the assets requires to go from 24th to 10th may come away with them getting more bang for their buck, so that's the move they make.

And so many other scenarios similar to that.

Saints will never trade back.....I agree....but will a rookie make (not break) this season is my point.

I would rather trade out and sign a legit veteran playmaker for 2020 that could put us over the top

We need proven veterans this year, not a rookie IMO

Rookies can make an impact. I don’t disagree with your logic but we don’t have the cap space for veterans

Clyde would. The last video I saw the guy broke down runs with the gap offense.

Said it's obviously the same offense and run scheme the saints use.

If we did for some reason trade back and end up with some second round action he would be an great addition. Especially if kamara is hurt again. Our offense stalls without him in there.

great film breakdown

Trade down : maybe
Trade out 1st : unlikely

5th year option for first round players are valuable for teams

Unless we pick up two second rounders there’s no way we get Clyde and even then, it’s no guarantee we don’t go LB/WR or LB/OL

If Jordan Love is there at 24 we are going to take him

Brees cap hit after retirement is going to be $30m the first year. We are not going to be in the market for a $20-30m a year free agent QB. In 2021.

Best to resign Ram, Lattimore, Williams etc and go the young/cheap QB route for 3-4 years.

The Saints don’t trade down. It’s their standard operating procedure. Every year they have “their” guys that they stand with conviction on and are willing to move up for. This being Drew’s last year I just can’t see you paying him $25 million around a talented roster with 2 older free agent pickups designed on helping in the playoffs and then turn around and NOT use your first round pick on a player that can help your team in 2020. The only unknown in this scenario is Jordan Love and how much Sean truly likes him. If he loves him like Mahomes he will move up to get him, otherwise the Saints will stay put and take the highest player left on their board at 24 regardless of position.
