The best reason to trade him is that he has some value. In 2 years he'll have no value and won't be able to do for the saints. Then you have to rebuild from scratch. I guess there is always hope of landing a decent fa qb. Going to be a rough transition at some point.

The Saints make bad FA deals and can't draft for shite. Brees won't make a lick of difference the next two years besides giving you a worse draft position. Instead of drafting 4, you're drafting 11.

Upvote. Saints are no better than 7-9 the next two years with Brees anyway.

I'd honestly prefer this to having no hope at all and watching the Saints like I used to, with a pipe dream that they will ever be relevant.

He's not getting traded, IMO, so we can probably stop with these threads.

Or at the very least, maybe go find one of the other 5,756 "trade Brees" threads and post something there, rather than start thread number 5,757 with the same stale take?

I'm not for tanking, but if I were it surely wouldn't be for a mistake ridden QB like Chad Kelly.

"The anti-Brees argument: Trade him for high picks, spend extra $25M on free agents, have everything BUT a QB. Sounds like pro version of LSU"

Nobody can name one current college QB that is worth losing Brees for.

I think people forget that there are 32 NFL teams and probably 20 NFL QBs.

No. We don't want to pay the greatest quarterback in Saints history 25 million/year at age 40. DWI

that's a hell of a deal in 2019 NFL's cap space.

Trent Dilfer just said that there is no way the Saints should pay Brees 100 million over 4 years.

Says he might have 2 more pro bowl calibur years left.

well its his job to say something for a click. If drew is only worth his contract for 2 of his 4 extended years of his contract, i'm still ok with that. his last year being cut we'll do us very little harm.

Drew gives us the best opportunity to win in the next 4 years. Free agency can change a team. Carolina went from 7-8-1 (I believe, kind of drunk) to 15-1 in one fricking season

If we get rid of drew without an immediate starter (see Indy and Andrew luck) we are going the Cleveland route......think about the free agency and draft similarities

The Panthers also have a GM who knows what he's doing. Listen, I'm not gonna be upset if Drew stays, the man is a first ballot hall of famer and he does give us the best shot to win. However, it doesn't change the fact that the majority of our roster is average at best. The Eagles just got a 1st and 4th round pick for Sam Bradford, so I know damn well we could still get two 1sts and more for Drew which would help this process go a lot smoother. Finally, we may not have an immediate starter now but the 2017 QB Class is absolutely loaded so there's our starter.

It is, but on paper it's one of the deepest drafts for the position so if we need to find someone, this is our best chance in my opinion.

I hear you.

So what teams would be interested in Drew? For what cost?

It's fun to talk trades, but there has to be a taker also.

What teams could take on his contract?

Bradford brought a $7 million cap hit in the trade. They would have had to get creative to get Brees to fit as they are currently negative with the way things stand.

2 teams could take on his contract: SF and the Browns. If we're willing to trade him, that also means he's likely a free agent too.

give me a list of every QB drafted since Brees got to NOLA, then give me a list of every one that you would trade Brees for right now, straight up, and that right there is your chance of drafting something resembling Drew Brees over the decade after he's gone. Best of luck to us... we're gonna need it.
