I find it pathetic that fans have to be wary about going to certain stadiums across the country. I understand fans showcasing passion for their team, but how trashy must Philly be if fans are really jumped for cheering for their own team? Aren't most of these Philly fans grown arse men? Just sad, really.

You live in Philly?

Everyone here in Pitt has told me not to go. Said it really is unsafe and unpleasant.
Haven't been to Pitt, but I would wager Philly is safer. I've never felt unsafe in Philly...and I've walked the city wearing LSU and Saints gear. The people can be rude for sure, but that's just the Northeast in general...
I think most of these claims about being jumped in Philly by Eagles' fans are exaggerated...just as those claims for any sports team are (with the exception of maybe Oakland and San Fran ) Take all of that with a grain of salt.

Group of friends went to the Saints game in Philly in 09 and said it was the worst experience of their lives. The usher had to escort the girls to and from the ladies room. How pathetic is that!?!?
So good luck to anyone brave enough to attend Saturday's game. Stay safe and keep your wits about you.

Actually, Pitt is very laid back. It is stuck a little in the 80s, but laid back nonetheless.

Never have and I don't plan on it anytime soon honestly. I don't want to go to a game where I have to watch my back the whole 60 minutes.

I'm going to be about an hour and a half away and I really thought about, for a split second, going.
But...no. frick that. Not subjecting my wife to that environment.

Doesn't mean other people haven't.

And you think every opposing team's fans that have come to New Orleans had a blast, found everyone exceedingly friendly, and vowed to return each year?
I get it, and in general I agree, Philly and the northeast aren't known to be the best/most friendly places...my gf and her sister live there and hate the people, but that's comparing it to people in the South. Don't knock an entire city and call it filthy or trashy if you've never been there yourself (Philly is honestly one of the cleaner cities I've been to). I've been there a bunch and have had 0 issues with anyone.

I was at the 09 game also. Lived in Philly (Fairmount) since 99 and just moved up to lower bucks a few years ago when we had kids.
Will Philly fans talk $hit to you the entire time? Absolutely. Will an 9 year old in the parking lot call you a f@g for wearing Saints gear? Probably (they did to my brother and then the dad gave him a high 5). Will they start anything if you just cheer for your team and don't act like a j@ck@arse? No way. Plus, for every jerk, there are 5 others that apologize to you for his behavior.
It's going to be cold and it's a Saturday night game so no one has to go to work on Sunday. They will be loaded up after tailgating all day but if you cheer on the Saints wearing your gear and smile and take their trash talk, nothing will happen. You might even say they are just miserable, spirited fans.
I don't suggest driving anywhere unless you have but traffic won't be too bad on Saturday except down by the stadium. Take the subway down. Enjoy some good bars in old city, get a cheesesteak, and have fun.
Also some good bars around center city before the game.
After the game, if the Saints win (and that's a BIG if IMO), just be nice to people and smile and say good game no matter what's being said like anywhere else.
