why? I'm just as best up over this lose as anyone.... I'm saying that there is actually some bright spots on this team. Some personnel groups are actually starting to play better and gel. The OL for one as well as the young CBs. Byrd is still hot garbage.

Yea. Especially at running back!
We're doing everything we can to get LF7.

You have a 38 yr old QB under contract for 1 more season, with no successor. You need 2-3 starters on O and D line; you need 2 LBs (including middle) and depending on injuries, at least 2 more CBs and a real TE. Team has waay too many holes.

As I was telling someone earlier they I would love LF7 and I believe he is special to the point of being able to carry a franchise and would be amazing to have as an asset when we finally have to break in a new Qb. There wouldn't be anything better for a fresh Qb to have.... but I don't think the saints can afford to spend a top 5 pick on him at the moment.... convince me different..

Maybe some position groups will have depth. I just don't know how you can say this team will have plenty of depth when we don't even have good starters that can stay healthy. We may have a few bright spots, but collectively, they haven't been playing well together.

1 on each. This offensive line with Armstead has been very, very good. We need a long term RG.

Starting wise, we need a DE. Cam, Davison, Rankins will be starters.

1. 0 if Anthony works out. Robertson has far exceeded expectations.

How many corners do you think we'll carry? This is an easy FA signing or midround pick at most for depth.

Breaux
Williams
Swann
Crawley

We're talking about adding a #3 or #4 corner. That isn't a big deal.

and a real TE.

yawn

If we continue this shitty play and get a top 10 draft position, along with having $30+ million to spend in FA, we're not that far off.

Will we hit on that pick and in FA or whiff again? That's the issue. Overall though, that isn't an insurmountable number of needs with our likely position and cap space.

It's depressing that we're talking about next season and haven't even gotten through the first quarter of this one.

So the same people making the decisions that got the Saints in the position they are will magically be able to fix things. How anyone can believe the Saints will invest $30 million on free agents wisely has to have been blind to the wasteful spending on free agents that is their history. How much of the $30 million will be spent on players already on the roster whose contracts are expiring? A saving grace of the Saints poor draft history is very few rookie contracts needing to be replaced.

What about depth at OL, DL, LB and TE? There hasn't been a season go by that the Saints haven't had players injured for extended portions of the season. What are the chances that one, or more, of the currently injured players will not make a full recovery such that they cannot play at the same level as pre-injury? The Saints need much more help than your post asserts.

Did you even read my post? It was the next sentence. Here, I'll help you out:

K

I have faith in Ireland. I think we need changes at both DC and special teams.

We have depth at LB already, we just need a starting caliber MLB. We'll have depth on the offensive line if we get a RG, as Kelemete and Tim go to backup roles where they belong. I've already addressed that we need help on defensive line, which guess what, also adds depth. What depth do we need at TE? We have 3 TE's already.

But no, I know exactly where the team stands. A draft and $30 million in space is enough to add 2-3 starters and continue to build depth. That is exactly what free agent should be used for outside of 1-2 players. That $30 million in just 2016 cap space goes a long, long, long way for adding depth if spent correctly.

There are roster limits in the NFL. If a guy like Armstead goes out, you can mitigate the risk, but there is a reason he gets paid what he does.
