The Lattimore hate really highlights how idiotic fans can be

Marshon Lattimore was almost universally considered a top 5-6 prospect by everyone.
The draft fell perfectly with 2 QBs, 2 RBs and 3 WRs getting taken before us, which no one could have seen coming. It allowed an ELITE player in Lattimore to fall.
Mike Mayock said:
"I'm amazed that he fell to No. 11. His upside is amazing. His ball skills are a true reality. Rarely gets called for pass interference even though he's a one-year guy. ... I think that he could be Aqib Talib some years down the road."
He was at a position of MAJOR need: Check
He was the highest rated player available: Check
And yet, because he was not at a VERY specific position, or he wasn't an SEC player, AND, for some reason, extremely inexplicably, ESPN was lukewarm (fyi: Mel Kiper had him rated elite)...
People are actually criticizing the pick. You are criticizing the Saints picking a DEFENSIVE PLAYER, that is the highest rated at his position, that we had a dire need for. Yes, injuries are a concern, but there are concerns with every player. As with any draft pick, he may not pan out.
But anyone being critical of this pick is an absolute fool that can be dismissed out of hand.

I mean, people are worried about his injury history.
Its a warranted concern.
I fricking loved the pick.

People who don't like the pick are insane. Simple as that.

people heard the hammy line and immediately just lost their shite. I wouldn't have hated allen there but this addressed a more immediate need on our D. Before the night started I didn't see any way Lattimore fell to us, once he started dangling there I almost wanted us to move up and go nab him.

Haven't yall learned over the years that with every pick, you are going to have your group of melters. The way the board fell we had to pick either Lattimore, Hooker, or Allen, and nabbed one, so thats good enough for me.
Remember, some people live to be outraged and offended.

Concerns for that are warranted. I started a thread 2 days ago on this very topic.
But that really isn't what most of the retarded criticism is about.

His ball skills are off the charts.
I can't wait to see this dude in black and gold.

I agree I love the pick!! Patrick Peterson has major hamstring issues coming out of LSU. He has done pretty good so far I would say. NFL trainers and medical staff is light years ahead of college.

This sums it up.
He's there at 11, you grab him.
Period.

WE NEED TO TRADE FOR BUTLER!!!
WE NEED CORNER HELP BAD!!!
WE HAVE TO DRAFT A CORNER!!!
WE SHOULD DRAFT TRE WHITE AT 11!!!
LATTIMORE WON'T BE THERE AT 11!!!
The Saints draft the consensus #1 CB Lattimore at 11
WHY DIDN'T WE TRADE FOR BUTLER!?!
WE NEED PASS RUSH HELP BAD!!!
WHY DIDN'T WE DRAFT TRE WHITE AT 11?!?
LATTIMORE SUCKS AND I'M MAD!!!

Really happy with this pick.

He has 1 year of game film and a bunch of injuries. Not exactly the safest pick

how many picks would you label as safe last night?
Posted on 4/28/17 at 9:39 am to BilJ
I was down on the pick as an initial reaction, but after sleeping on it, I am very, very happy with how the first round turned out. They drafted BPA and didn't reach for anyone based on need alone.

I'd say 14ish when considering the pick selected of player.

In which he convinced every expert that he was easily the best corner in an elite corner class.

bunch of injuries
One injury, hamstrings. Once Ohio St updated their medical practices treating hamstrings, he was able to play in every single game last year. Guys wanted Allen and Foster there, both of which have current injury problems.

CB is an incredibly risky position to draft, but this guy checks all the boxes for a potential shut down CB. I didn't see us coming away with that at 11 going into the night.
