Butt hurt organization

Unveiled Friday, the “Rebirth” statue in New Orleans shows former Saints defensive back Steve Gleason blocking a punt . . . by a nondescript player from a nondescript team. In reality, Gleason blocked a ball from the foot of Falcons punter Michael Koenen on September 26, 2006.
The memorialization of the moment omits the Falcons logo or Koenen’s name, according to Jim Varney of the New Orleans Times-Picayune. Varney writes that the Falcons declined to grant permission for the use of the logos and name, with multiple requests from the Saints culminating in an appeal to owner Arthur Blank.
It’s unclear whether Blank made the decision, but it’s clear he didn’t unmake it. While we can understand the reluctance, the Falcons were part of that moment. Keeping the logo and the name off the sculpture won’t change that fact.

Big deal. If it were the other way around, people would be applauding Benson

Doesn't matter, I still hate the fricking falcons!

I'm not even a Saints fan and I think that's shitty. had it been the Niners instead of the Falcons I would hope Jed York would give permission.

They just mad because that punt block started it all. The domination of the Falcons, the Super Bowl, current success, everything.

Don't know if I was the owner of a team I would give my approval of a statue of MY team getting owned. Anywhere for any reason.
Besides, its not for those S.O.B.'s and we will always know who and what it is!

Having a punt blocked is not really an "epic fail." Sure, it was a significant moment for us, but it's not like it was a completely debilitating moment for them.

Do they think by not putting the name or logo on it changes anything? It is what it is. The Falcons organization is the lowest form of scum on earth.

2-10 vs. Sean Payton and the Saints since 2006. Very butthurt, indeed.

Two more memorial statues need to be made.
One of Drew throwing to Sproles with many unnamed defenders surrounding.
And for shits and giggles another of an unnamed coach going for it on fourth-and-1 in his own unnamed city, overtime, own his own unnamed 29 yard line.

Still has the names in the description doesn't it? Not sure I understand the point of blocking it engraved in the statue.

It's tacky by the FO of Atlanta. It's a grown mans sport and you've gotta take your lumps if another org wants to make a statue and you happen to be the loser that night.
But to play devil's advocate, I can understand the animosity towards the Saints, especially after the 2010 game in which Saints players and coaches took pictures on the Falcons logo after the game. That's also childish, especially when it was a regular season game.
Anyways, both sides have acted immature lately, this move by the Atlanta FO just is another example.

How fitting. It's perfect just the way it is. The butthurtedness of the Failcons organization from the top on down is just the cherry on the cake. It couldn't have worked out any better.
