He's relatively cheap and 34. I don't know if this has anything to do with the Saints.

Just wild speculation, or is there actually something out there linking us with Mathis??

So far i'm leaning towards option 1

OH I see, he's making a connection between this rumor and the Stills rumor from another thread

Looks like OP is attempting to link Stills supposedly being on the block to Mathis being on the block.

Nothing linking us directly. I think people are just drawing conclusion from us trading Grubbs today, and how active we've been in the trade market so far.

ETA; Well, nevermind

It was presumptuous. I don't truly think they'd do that (either team). I thought maybe Saints were interested.

Exactly. I think LaConfora is speculating, like many on here were after the Grubbs trade.

Wonder if we could just flip the 5th we got for Grubbs to Philly

Was sarcasm. Evans was one of the better guards (if not the best) before he had the injury issues. Just thought it was funny when he was considered the 2nd best guard after missing almost half the season.

I was thinking that as well. Give them a 5th and Stills for Evans. But still the guy is 33. Not sure if I would like that or not

If he was 30 I would love it. But he's old man. Maybe 2 good years left

Mathis is amazing, but idk if it would be worth trading stills for a 2 year, 33 year old player

This is a win now league so yes I would say this trade would be worth it. Brees has shown he can be elite with just an average WR/TE talent if he has a run game and protection.

Except we'd have terrible WR/TE talent if we traded Stills and lose a deep threat.

I'm all for trading draft picks for Mathis, but I think losing Stills creates too big of a hole. He matches our new style pretty perfectly as a PA deep threat

Guard is an easy and safe position in the draft too

Bowe is available. LOTS of FA time left plus the draft where we can trade up for Amari or sit tight and draft Collins and DBG.

The shite that has gone down in the last 2 weeks has me more confident in Saints leadership than ever.
This Mathis for Stills trade is just a made up rumor but I like it.

I sincerely hope the Saints don't trade up. I just don't think that's a good idea, unless they can get their top pass rusher. But he will probably be gone within the first 5 picks or so.

I'm okay with them trading out of #13 a few spots and accumulating another mid rounder in the process. I'm even okay with them holding with #13 and #31, but not trading up.

So trade a 23 yr old up and coming receiver playing for peanuts AND a draft pick for a 34 year old guard coming off an injury with 12 million still owed...

Umm no thanks, terrible move
