He'll overthrow them like he does big arse Benjamin?

Most Saints fans base this on the first game from last season. What happened the next time they played us? Cam lit us up. Benjamin is slow and doesnt get any seperation. Julio is a top 3 wr in the league. You cant even compare the two.

Cam is a good(not great) overall QB but he VERY much struggles on deep throws.

Im definitely not saying he is great, I just dont think much of Matt Ryan.

Although I think Brees is a great QB, does anyone else think that he was brought to HOF status by Sean Payton?

You obviously haven't seen the sports science video where Brees hits a target like 600 times in a row.

I didnt bring up the team success argument, you did.

What? I was responding to this:

quote:

Give Cam Julio Jones and Roddy White and watch what happens.

quote:

The Falcons have explosive weapons all over the field while Cam has had to do everything by himself.

In their wins over the last 2 years, Cam only has to score 13 points.

quote:

I dont think yall realize how much of a luxury it is to be able to throw the ball up for grabs to a player like Julio Jones.

I realize it, but I'm also not blind to what field position and a good defense does for an offense. It takes a lot of pressure of the offense and lets them protect the ball by taking less risks.

Julio only played in 5 games in 2013, but Ryan still threw for 4500 yards and completed 67.4% of his passes.

He was a good QB before they even got Julio

Yeah I'm not sure how you can argue Cam is better than Ryan. I can hate the Falcons as much as I want, but I'm not a fricking moron

I keep discussing the weapons on Carolina offense, and all you have to respond to that is to talk about their defense. All im saying is, Carolina has some of the worst offensive skill position players in the league, while Atlanta has some of the best. I think Ryan's stats are inflated because of the weapons around him while Cam is the exact opposite. They both have pretty shitty offensive lines from what I recall from last season.

Ryan is better than Cam and it's not even close really. Cam can make plays on his feet on 3rd down but Ryan can hit anyone on the field he wants to with some protection

You don't think defense has an impact on offensive play?

I've posted the number of points scored in losses and the # of points allowed in wins. It makes his job a lot easier

I don't disagree with that. Atlanta also has an absolutely terrible oline that allowed pressure on 241 dropbacks compared to 184 for Cam.

They allowed 290 pressures on dropbacks in 2013, the most in the NFL, compared to 205 for Cam (12th).

The Falcons offense has better weapons, but also has to put up 28 points a game to win, not 13.

Not to mention that Ryan clearly has better numbers.

This is getting ridiculous.

Trading away your healthy HOF QB is how you become the Browns

True...but not trading him away and continuing to leverage the future from a salary cap standpoint while you try to win a championship before the rapidly closing window closes is how you end up being the Browns for the next 10 years.

Personally, I wouldn't do it. But, at some point, an offer begins to make sense.

There's no way the Saints are stupid enough to make this trade. 1st ballot HOF QB's don't grow on trees, you have to keep them as long as you possibly can while they're still producing and Brees is still producing and will produce even better with a good center in Unger.

Cam is a good player by all means. And they won a division full of shitty teams last season so I wouldn't exactly call it a huge feat

You make it seem like offense doesnt impact deffensive play. It goes both ways.

Or he makes the defenses job easier by controlling the clock with his legs. There is plenty of ways to look at that.

but a GM can't actually be that dumb??? Can he???? Brees has like 4 years left, max
You mean the Saints or Browns GM?

I think it would be a really bad idea to throw in the towel and go into rebuild mode when you have multiple playoff contending seasons left in you.

From the Browns perspective, it's 2 1st round picks for 3-4 years of relevancy and playoff contension every year, not a bad price to pay, even with the value on two 1st round picks.
