I still can not wrap my head around how Ryan came in and in a single offseason turned the worst defense in the history of the NFl into a top 5 Defense the next season. The defense almost won that playoff game VS Seattle that year. They played with a passion and they were bad arse. They did start to fall off towards the end of the year rite around the Rams game tho.

What happened to make us go from Worst ever to top 5 then Worst ever again all in 3 seasons. I cant quite wrap my head around it.

Im sure alot of it has to do with the dead money contracts, but is the problem realy Ryans schemes have gotten old and figured out, or Are our players realy that terrible. We seem to have alot of upcoming talkent on defense. I hope that Ryan was the problem and that 2013 was a fluke. But i cant figure out the rollercoaster from 2012 to 2013 to 2014-15

That's been Rob's MO at every single stop he has been to.

There is a reason he can't hold a job.

He propels a defense into top tier ranks his first year, and then after it tanks more year after year after year.

We let alot of talent go ND then Refused to draft and aquire depth and talent, couple that with losses of draft picks and lack of money l until last year's draft.

Right off the bat you can point to much better pass rush and a consistent secondary lineup. Didn't Junior and Cam both have 10+ sacks that year? Jenkins and Hicks were both great in the middle.
In the secondary we had Greer, Lewis, Harper, Jenkins, Vaccaro who played very well together.

In 2014 we then let Harper and Jenkins walk. Vaccaro had to step up into a full time S role instead of how Ryan was able to move him all over the field. Greer suffered the career ending injury. Lewis was good when healthy but had that wonky leg on the back end of the season. Byrd played what, 4 games?

In NFL all schemes are figured out. No matter how you line people up, it's 11 on 11. We just don't have very many good players outside of some rookies. The good veterans we have are always hurt, at least this season. There isn't a scheme out there that surprises OCs, a couple years ago people raved about Seahawks secondary scheme with triangle coverage. Half the teams in the league do that, they just have the players to make it work.

If you watch RRs "schemes" it's no different than anybody else's overall. We just don't fly to the ball like other teams do, in the big picture, that's on position coaches.
