Taysom Hill: Role isn’t necessarily what I want, but it’s best for the team

“Things aren’t up to me,” Hill said, via the team’s website. “I’m willing to do what I need to do to help us win football games. . . . I love playing, and so it creates opportunities for me to add value and be on the field and compete. . . . That’s the nature of the NFL. This isn’t necessarily what I want, it’s what’s best for the team and I’m good with that.”

Did Payton make him the highest paid TE in the league?

Taysom is neither durable or consistent. Two things that are crucial to being a winning qb

Nobody in the NFL wants him to play QB, unless he’s holding out for Payton’s next job. He should pretend to be enthusiastic about playing TE, or he’s out of the league after his contract is up.

I think this is a make or break year for him. If he’s hurt or invisible, he’ll be out of the league shortly.

As others have said, he better suck it up and embrace that gadget role.

I was on board for him being QB1 before last season, and I have completely reversed course after seeing him as a starter for several games.

Nah, he isn't top 10 as far as tight end contracts next year.

He does have value. He is great on special teams. He can fill multiple rolls outside of QB and is still an emergency QB option if you somehow have 2 QB injuries, insane covid issues or even just QB on trick plays.

I don't see him getting another $10 million/year contract without balling out at tight end though.

This guy is making a shite load of money to absolutely do nothing right now. The dude ain't no TE, he's a glorified H-Back that runs pass routes like a TE, and instead of running the ball from the fullback position, he runs the football from the QB position. He's the most expensive H-Back in the league. Smh

I agree but his winning percentage as a starter is only 2nd best in the league to Maholmes. I rather have Winston as QB because of talent but Hill does win.

His winning percentage doesn't have as much to do with him as it does the team (and coaching at the time) around him. Sean could have schemed wins with any 2nd string QB in the league with a defense this good. Taysom is a hell of a football player but a bad quarterback.

Many may not want to admit it but it's the cold heart truth.

If we can get 2 1sts and a 2nd next year for a combo of Payton and Hill, sign me up.

I may get flamed for this. But he got better towards the end of the year.

Even with that crack Wr squad Saints were starting.
Without AK. Without Thomas.

Dude can ball.

7-2 and 1 loss and half of his INT’s were due to his finger breaking in the middle of a game. Perhaps he is not consistent throw to throw. But he is consistently a winner at every position he plays, including QB1.

Payton couldn’t scheme wins with Trevor or Book.

0-4 w Trevor and 0-1 with Book.

Remember those Chase Daniel and Mark Brunell games in the past? We didn’t win any of those either.

Taysom and Teddy are the only 2 backup QB’s we have won with.

This site seems to have this weird collective unnatural lack of appreciation that borders on hatred at times against Taysom and all he has been is a warrior and a player that impacts winning positively for us. It’s strange.
