Spotting the ball at the recovery

First off, I'm not complaining at all just trying to clear up a debate.
NFL rules state:
So did the refs actually make a mistake in the Saints favor or did they get it right? I think that OT is after the 2 min warning of the second half and should have been NO ball at the spot of the fumble, some people here say no because the clock was not under 2 minutes
NFL rules state:
quote:
If any player fumbles after the two-minute warning in a half, only the fumbling player is permitted to recover and/or advance the ball. If recovered by any other offensive player, the ball is dead at the spot of the fumble unless it is recovered behind the spot of the fumble

If it were under 2 minutes in the OT period, then spot at the point of the turnover. Refs were right.

I assumed we would get the ball at the spot of the fumble.

So the "after the 2 minute warning" statement applies to overtime the same as it does to a half? Because the rule specifically says "after the 2 minute warning in ether half".
I'm not arguing here, just trying to get some clarification with something to back it up

Well if you interpret the rule the way you are thinking, the entire 3rd and 4th quarter would count as after the first 2 minute warning. The ruling was correct I believe.

That's what the refs were poining t to. Some were saying they were saying Dallas ball, but they were saying spot it at point of fumble.
The rule says after the 2 minute warning. Unless there is an interpretation elsewhere then it was spotted wrong

Yeah, under two minutes ended at the beginning of OT

What point are you trying to make?
Rule states

There are only two halfs so OT would be after the 2 minute warning in the 2nd of the 2 halfs, there cannot be three halfs

The old "holy roller" rule.
I was wondering about that when the fumble happened

So no one has anything to share other than what they think is the rule?
Posted on 12/23/12 at 5:43 pm to shawnlsu
I thought it was pretty clear?

Did anyone let out a little gas when the refs initially were signaling Dallas ball?
