He has actually had 10-15 minute segments of his show where he explains to people his method. He thinks anyone who lives in the South needs to move, major market cities are all that matters, and no one should get upset when he heaps praise on NY, LA, Miami, Chicago, Seattle, or New England because only cool people come from those areas, and everyone else is a hillbilly. The teams in the major market deserve more attention because they have more people listening, and those people are better than most others because they have money and live in big cities. I'm not even exaggerating one bit. This is almost verbatim what he has said on his show.

He also admitted that he will say things for no other reason than to get a rise out of people; basically a radio/TV version of an internet troll. It seems to work for him...

He is a troll. I wonder if anyone has ever explained this to him. Ah, forget it. That smarmy bastard already knows exactly what he is and how he makes his money.

This is why I don't watch Sportsnation. Screw Cowherd.

Cowherd twists and turns his perceptions just like anybody else.

Highest rated regular season game in 14 years. Perhaps the "market" for the Saints is bigger than Cowherd realizes.

Why does it mater?

I do not rent the space in my head to anyone in the media.

Don't allow anybody in the main stream sports media or main stream media to live rent-free in your head.

Like the poster above stated, Cowherd admitted that he caters his schtick to the big-market teams because that's where the numbers are. More people live in those areas, which means more listeners, which means higher ratings, which means job security for Cowherd.

For example, if the Falcons do well this year, expect the Cowherd-types of the world to seem more praiseworthy of them than the Saints, because Atlanta is a much more populous city than NOLA. This may be a bad example, but you can get my drift.
