Is anyone else more excited about the Anthony pick at 31 than Andrus Peat at 13?

I have been working excessively the last two days and did not get to ask this question earlier as I wished.

I'm stoked about both. We've been so old on the line for so long it's hard not to be excited about new blood there. Really same exact sentiment for ILB

Like Bret said I believe both a excellent picks. Anthony has the tools to become a very solid MLB for a while, and hopefully he will do just that. Peat can become a solid OT also. Gives us some depth in case Strief or Armstead go down and can challenge Armstead for the starting job eventually.

The fact that they addressed the LB position in a big way is great and way overdue.

As for Peat, there are a lot of question marks with him. The fact that this was an extremely weak OT class made Peat a 1st rounder in the first place. I don't expect too much from him.

I also really like the Peat pick, but I think he is still somewhat raw.

Anthony grew comparisons to Vilma in his ability to call the defense at the line. He also drew praise for his ability to move sideline to sideline and his ability to explode to the ball carrier. I did get to watch him some, and some of his highlits.....kid appears legit.

I also think that Tull will end up kicking inside with Anthony in the 3-4 alignment. Two highly intelligent and athletic LBers in the middle of that front seven could be very dangerous.

I'm glad we chose Anthony and not Kendricks like much of the board was hoping. Payton made a statement about what he wants the team to be, and that's more physical defensively and a good line.

considering how desperately we needed a MLB compared to our need at OT yeah sure.

I'm not excited about either pick. Both should be eventual starters both were also picked about a half a round higher than most predicted. And given how poorly the Saints have drafted lately, don't give me any crap about how draft analysts don't know anything. They may not, but evidently the Saints don't either. A good front office could have moved around and gotten extra picks and still ended up with Peat and Anthony.

Well, if that's the best Peat is, potential to be a "solid tackle," and as someone else posted, "only a 1st round pick b/c this was a weak OT class," then the pick stinks. I assume the Saints feel like Peat is a franchise-type left tackle, otherwise, the pick makes no sense. They really needed a front 7 defensive player at that spot, UNLESS Peat was just too good to pass up, and is a prototypical left tackle for years to come. I'm not saying he has to start from day one, given that they have Armstead and Strief at that position, but certainly, if called upon he should be able to start.
