Looks like a few that can make others look bad. Still moronic though.

Archie stayed in New Orleans after retiring from the NFL and returned, unlike others, after Hurricane Katrina struck the Gulf Coast. As recently as last year, Archie repeatedly acknowledged that he faithfully followed three teams — Peyton’s Colts, Eli’s Giants and the Saints.
quote:
Just occasionally, when Archie is out around town, someone who has had too much to drink or is a bit overzealous utters something he cannot brush off and he reverts to being dad.
“I had one guy say to me, ’Tell Peyton thanks so much for throwing that interception,’” Archie recalls. “I’ve told a few guys to do some things that are, uh, humanly impossible. Most of the people have been really good about it, but a few have been just plain rude and nasty and when I’m in some of these settings, it’s pretty doggone uncomfortable.”
So uncomfortable that Archie hasn’t even told Peyton everything he’s heard in a town where the Mannings have become synonymous with the city’s image.
quote:
“The first time he (Peyton) came back was for a golf tournament, after he had his neck operated on. He couldn’t play, but he came anyway so that people couldn’t say he didn’t come because of the Super Bowl,” Archie recalls. “And sure enough, we get through the tournament and someone smarts off about it. I just said ’Let’s move on.’”

The Jilted Lover syndrome that some people have towards the Mannings is pathetic. If you would say something to Archie that you wouldn't say to Tom Brady's father then you might be taking things a little too seriously.

Hey, I would never be one of the asswhipes that would call the Mannings out in public and try to ridicule them for the Superbowl loss. However, don't you think Archie is being a little bit of a turd when he says or implies that he can't celebrate the win at all? Hell, didn't New Orleans make this man and his family? I know he took a beat down in his days but, the organization has treated him and his family too well for him not to celebrate it a little! Archie was my idol when I was growing up but, after reading that I told my wife........I just lost a lot of respect for him! JMHO!

Not sure it implied that. But if so, think about it. If your SON and is team lost the Super Bowl to your hometown team-- a tean on which you played decades ago, would you "celebrate" a little? Hope not. Archie has already repeatedly said he is very happy for and has congratulated the Saints. His son's team lost--so no, he should not celebrate. It would be a slap in the face to his closest blood. Archie has been nothing but respectful.

unfortunately these idiots exist everywhere...and I am sure Archie has been around enough to know how to brush it off

Really

“I love the people here, and I love football, but it has been an awkward situation for us. It was a great win for the Saints and a great thing for the city, but I think some people forget that we were on the other side.”
Obviously anybody who is going to tell him something about it is a shithead but no one should feel sorry for him or curb their happiness because he's around.

He's trying to keep a low profile in a no win situation. Some of you people act like he sold out and became a Cowboys fan.

U shouldn't say anything unless your personally know him.

Is it fair to say I don't give a shite?
I mean people shouldn't say anything to any of them about it, but if the worst problem in poor archie's life is a guy trash talking him at a golf tourny...I just find it hard to really care about this.

look its just the reality of the situation, there are moron fans in every city for every team

If I were in the Manning family I would find the article more offensive than the local fans. IMHO it unnecessarily stirs up shite when little exists to begins with. An article about nothing.

That's just sad. Instead of being happy the Saints won a Super Bowl some trash can't help but rub it in.

I wouldnt call them out and rub it in, but seems to me like Archie is being way too sensitive.
Besides, Peyton and Eli are douchebags. Peyton showed his arse when he didn't try to find Drew and shake his hand after the Super Bowl. That was classless.

I do not agree with rude behavior to anyone but at the same time there are alot of people who have jobs that do not pay squat compared to the Manings and put up with and are called alot worse for alot less......

I've always thought Archie, Peyton, and Eli were douches, but I wouldn't say it to their face.

Difficult to tell what the context of the entire interview was.
