re: Should the Saints pursue FA Jordan Cameron?

Dan Campbell is back on the Saints coaching staff. This is the perfect guy to evaluate whether or not Cameron is worth it. Campbell was Cameron's TE coach and then temporary head coach. the signing could make a lot of sense.

only would be interested in getting Green or bringing back Ben Watson.
I don't know what to think of Vernon Davis.. he's 32 and that midseason trade to Denver didn't make their offense any better.. or worse to be fair. I was totally wrong about Ben Watson last year b/c I thought he was too old.
I just can't believe how quiet Davis has been the last few years but he was in two of the worse scenarios he could be in too. The 49ers turd of an offense and then basically every WR/TE in Denver was limited after their first couple of drives b/c of Manning's dead arm.
Fleener... no way.

adding Cameron or Green to this offense would be tremendous.

As a bonus the Saints must be considered a top if not the top landing spot for a TE looking for a productive home.

Green would continue our tradition of taking players from San Diego and turning them into studs for us.

I still think Vernon can be productive but again I have him near the end of the want list. I would not hold his lack of production against him due to the offenses and QB's he was forced to play with. Even Emmanuel Sanders and Demaryius Thomas disappeared in that offense.
Chances are if he still wants to play he will come cheap as will most of these players outside of Green who SD may push hard to resign as their Heir to TE.

I don't think vernon is the elite athlete he once was and that's pretty much the only thing that made him special

Billy Miller, Josh Hill, David Thomas, Hooman
it really doesn't take special to upgrade some of what Drew has had to work with at the TE department.

I'd rather Coby Fleener honestly....less injury issues, and he can stretch the field!

yeah, totally.
It makes more sense now that you brought that up.
I think Green would be a great fit here plus a guy like Vernon Davis might want more than what he's worth at this point. But I'd imagine where ever Davis goes he'll sign some incentive laden deal. Its not like he'd have a lot of leverage because he hasn't done much the last few years.
I wonder what type of deal Green is looking for? He's always been more of a role guy. I mean San Diego kind of spread the ball around to their WR's.. maybe they wouldn't have as much if Keenan Allen didn't get hurt. Woodhead also caught a ton of dump off passes out of the backfield.

its a weird case. when gates was hurt, they only let green shine for a game or two. as soon as gates was back, they nearly forgot about green. in typical chargers fashion, they dont seem to really utilize what they have. but with gates age and health, i imagine they want to sign green at all costs.

San Diego loves to watch Probowl Talent in its prime walk out the building...not sure how motivated they are to resign Green.

I mean Green could always get lucky and go to a team who is willing to pay up for whatever reason. Look at what Charles Clay got from Buffalo last year after he left Miami.
yeah, perhaps he wants to stay there too. No way to know unless he's spoken out on it.

I think that is more of Phillip Rivers having a hard on for Gates and not looking Greens way. Green also missed a couple of critical games (for him) with concussion issues this past season.
When Green has been targeted, hes made plays. In the saints offense, he would be a difference maker

Yes. Yes there is
Look or listen for when Drew is back in A Whale's Vagina or as its now called San Diego and practicing with Green and Cooks on the side then we will know its a done deal.

I would love to sign Green and one of Jones/Sanu.

He can't stay healthy and that's always been his problem and our problem. We always have injured guys, no need to add one more

Aside from the fact he's a good player, I'd love to see this so Cam Jordan and Jordan Cameron could be on the same team

Goes down soft on first contact just like cooks, we don't need another player like that

If we're gonna spend money on a TE I'd really rather it not be Vernon Davis
