Hear me out…

Keeps him out of our division(Panthers) as well as out of the conference. Texans have two Top 10 picks at the moment. We can get one of those plus a second round selection for CSP.

Payton looks at it as a good start up for him in an easy division with some young talent and a good Brandin Cooks that he has coached before.

Broncos and Chargers are the only two I think he’s currently interested in.

A downvote with no logical rebuttal…. what is this, Tiger Rant?

He’s not going to take over a team without a quarterback. That’s why he’s already told Glaser that he’s not interested in the Panthers either. Houston is not a good fit for what he wants. He wants a situation where there’s already a good qb that he can make even better. Houston doesn’t have that right now.

But if HOU sticks with the #2 pick and gives us a #5, they’d get Stroud or Young, which could definitely appeal to CSP.

Id love to see him fail there

But there’s no way he takes that job without a superstar QB

He would need to want to actually coach there right?

Wasn't there some huge issue with the owner keeping certain shitty personnel around in prominent positions because they were his friends? Reason why Hopkins and Watson demanded trades.

so, you want to direct Payton on where to go, and the compensation for him doing so

Why not go for the gold like - Cleveland and 10 1st round picks?

I mean there both fantasies so why not go big

Texans are not firing Lovie Smith this year. I think Denver is a possibility.

Would Green Bay be a possible long shot?

Any clues to where he is going to are going to come out in the media through Jay Glazer. He & Sean are tight & Glazer gets his permission to leak all the latest from Sean camp.

I agree. Both offer a team with potential for a coach that can actually use the talent correctly.

While the Chargers seem like the most likely "fit", that's only from SP's perspective. He wants the west coast, and he would love to have a QB and offense like LAC has.

That said, the Chargers aren't bad, and I don't think they're desperate enough - yet - to bail on their current coach. Even if they don't win the AFCW, with a good season they could still reach the playoffs as a wild card.

The Broncos are the more likely fit of the two. Good(ish) team with some real talent that's been misused. Stack on top of that the very real anger of the Bronco fans over a team they thought was ready to challenge the Chiefs for the division, only to have their season already below .500 and not gaining much buoyancy.

Denver ain't the west coast, but it's a heck of a lot closer than Houston, and the talent is there for a coach that knows what he's doing.

The larger question is which of those two teams have enough draft power to actually get the Saints to accept a trade for fCSP.

Also one other possibility to consider: CSP to the Cardinals. Imagine what Payton could do with that offense. And it isn't crazy to think the shine is finally wearing off of Kingsberry. He may have been an offensive genius in CFB, but so far he's been just meh in the pros. Payton in Phoenix would be an excellent fit for both parties.

I also don't know what the Cards would have for trade bait to get CSP, but that would be another place to watch.

Payton wants to go to LA or Miami to appease his gold digger wife.

IMO It's more than QB. Like yes, a team having a QB will be a requirement for him for sure. But I doubt he wants to go to a team with a depleted roster, especially considering we are going to want a chunk of their assets in return.

The only logical choice today, assuming we are demanding a haul (which isn't necessarily the case-they may do Sean a favor) is the Cowboys or Chargers. Both have stacked rosters with good young players and can afford to miss a years of 1st/2nds to give them to us. Most other teams he won't be interested IMO.

I think this is somewhat fair, but I doubt Houston fires Lovie Smith after just 1 year. I'm sure CSP would rather a more developed roster like the Chargers too.

I think it is very possible CSP takes a GM job in his preferred location and then moves himself into HC if he has to fire the current HC.

For a guy who’s gotten as much credit as Payton has for developing qb’s, I can’t think of one that he drafted and developed his entire career. I’ll give him credit for making Drew a much better qb than he was at San Diego, but he’s definitely not a proven developer of rookie qbs. That’s why he’s going to wait for the team with a great qb, and a good roster around him too.
