What do you do? I chose the first three as they're the most popular realistic possibilities at their respective positions to be available.

It's looking more likely than ever that Jack could slide to us. Do you take the chance on quite possibly the best player in the draft, or go with the healthier yet still talented player?

Personally, I think Jack gives us the best chance to win a SB in Brees's window. While IRL I put a lot of stock in planning long term, I think the Saints need to go all out over then next 3 or 4 years, then just reset post-Brees. Being terrible after Brees is done isn't the end of the world as it will give us a shot at a new stud QB, which is why I don't really care if Jack starts to fall apart 4 or 5 years from now so long as he's a stud now.

That, plus
a) I don't think we need to use a high pick on a CB. Mid-round is fine.
b) After Buckner and Bosa, I don't see a big difference between the next ~5 or 6 DE's and actually like Ogbah the most (MIGHT be there in round 2)
c) loaded DT class, we'll have good options in rounds 2 and 3.

Is Treadwell also there? I'll take him

Of the choices you give, I'll take Rankins. I really do love Jack, and injury aside he is EASILY the best choice here, but unless the medical team is absolutely CERTAIN he is fine and it won't be an issue, we just can't take him. This team has had too much bad shite happen to us in the draft to take a guy like that and then him bust out because of a pre existing injury.

I'm with you. You have another shot at a championship run with the best quart back you ever had. Set yourself up for a run with the best player to do that. If his knee falls off after 3 years hopefully you have something to show for it

Jack scares me. Reminds me of Da'Quan Bowers

Rankins. I would have said Jack until I read that report. Rankins seems like the safest pick and it's at our biggest position of need.

I wouldn't be upset with Rankins, Lawson or Jack. Jack's medical scares me a little, but I'd be ok if he was our pick.

I'd love to get Rankins in the 1st and Ogbah in the 2nd. Or Lawson in the 1st and Billings Jones, or Butler in the 2nd.

Love those players except Lawson. Not sure about him. I've said it a million times here but I think Ogbah is the third best DE in the class behind Buckner/Bosa. Ogbah is kind of by himself in my 2nd tier. I don't think Lawson is much better than the likes of Calhoun and Nassib, who could be available in the 2nd/3rd rounds.

This what I'm hoping for as well. There are even a couple more good DT's in the 2nd round as well.

I wouldn't complain about a Myles Jack pick either, but damn...it's pretty scary.

I'm a big fan of Ogbah. I kind of want to shoot the moon and go Rankins in one and bet on Ogbah being there in the 2nd.

That being said, if you take Lawson or Jack in the 1st, you can get a good DT in the 2nd. I like Billings, Jones and Butler. But Day and Nessbit would be good picks too.

I love having a lot of options!

You won't like my list

I will say at 12 I wouldn't mind Rankins, Spence, Lawson, Hargreaves. I really like Su'a Cravens, Michael Thomas, Vernon Butler, Kenny Clark, and Andrew Billings to just name a few.

You're awful but I agree. Maybe I should re-think my position.

Not that I dislike any of the players. And having Jack on top takes a lot because I think ILB is the least important position on defense. I'm just tired of seeing TE's push our shite in year after year and Anthony looks lost in the passing game.

if Jack falls its for a reason. Gambling on him would be silly, but i understand the allure.

the other three are close for me. Lawson, paired with Cam Jordan, would give us 2 really good 2-way DE's.

Lawson actually looks like more of a strong side DE to me. Really good against the run. Playing him at RDE on 1st/2nd down, then moving him to LDE on passing downs with Kikaha at RDE and Fairley/Cam on the inside is tempting. He gives us more versatility on the line than Rankins, but Rankins is the better player IMO.

I'll call it a risk but Jack is a player that elevates the team to another level. I'm ok w this risk that warrants the rewards
