Saints' Tyeler Davison playing well off the jump in training camp

WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W. Va. -- The interior of the New Orleans Saints' defensive line ranked among the top of the team's items on a wish list to improve from last year to 2016. A 2015 fifth-rounder is making his case to see more playing time his professional sophomore campaign.
Defensive tackle Tyeler Davison has consistently been a troublemaker for the Saints offensive line this training camp. He lined up exclusively with the first-team defense for the second consecutive practice Wednesday next to Sheldon Rankins.
I don't want to say Davison has jumped John Jenkins for the starting nose tackle spot. Yet you can't ignore where he's played the past two practices and how well he's played in those sessions.
"He's been winning the get off (on the snap). He's exceptionally quick. The nature of how he plays, even when we saw him on college film, I think that pad level and that get off for him in this defense has helped him. He's done a few things that's stood out."
Davison completely blew up a running play in team rushing drills with Mark Ingram as the ball carrier. Davison flew between Max Unger and Tim Lelito to make the stop in the backfield. It looked more like Lelito's assignment.
The second-year defender also played very well in a new drill in individual reps against the offensive line. It was basically two-on-two drills with both defenders trying to disrupt the quarterback. Davison outmaneuvered his blocker multiple times in the drill.

Between Rankins, Fairley, Onyemata, Jenkins, Richardson and Davison someone on that DL better make some damn noise to help out Jordan.

A lot of great news coming out of camp, but as I have said before, I want to see results on gameday.

Don't care who it is if they wreck shite.

is this more about Lelito or Davidson?

I'd say a lot about Davison, he's been getting a lot of early praise from payton today. It ain't just lelito he's winning snaps against.

Loved Davison's tape. He's going to be in the league for a long time

Hopefully his pass blocking is catching up to his run blocking.

Jenkins may not even may the team

Yawn. Do it in the regular season.

The skepticism is well deserved. Every training camp reporters give these glowing reports of this guy "is much improved" or that guy looks like "he's ready to contribute in a big way" and every regular season the defense gets pushed around like a shopping cart at Walmart.
Here's hoping that the defense can be at least average...that's really all we need out of it.

So in other words he's the opposite of John Jenkins (doesn't stand straight up on the snap). Good

yeah, I'm glad he's off to a good start so far but I'm not going to push all my chips into the middle of the table b/c of a few good outings at practice early on in camp.

If we turn out to be really deep at DT then maybe we can trade Jenkins to someone for a guard. Dallas maybe? Jenkins for Leary straight up?
