Just two years after being a fourth-round draft pick of the New Orleans Saints, linebacker Khairi Fortt was out of the NFL last season.
Now he’s getting another chance with the Seattle Seahawks.
The Seahawks signed Fortt on Monday to replace undrafted free agent signing Christian French on their active roster. French was waived/injured by Seattle and will land on the team’s injured reserve list if he clears waivers.
Fortt was placed on the reserve/designated to return injured list by the Saints at the conclusion of training camp in 2014. However, the Saints dumped him due to missing multiple team meetings and he never suited up in a regular season game for the franchise. After a stint on the Cincinnati Bengals’ practice squad, Fortt was signed the Jacksonville Jaguars active roster and appeared in three games.
Jacksonville released him at the conclusion of training camp in 2015 and he went unsigned the remainder of the season.

Good luck with that guy, Seattle.

The New Orleans Saints on Tuesday released kicker Josh Scobee and put offensive tackle Bryan Witzmann on waivers, and they signed undrafted free agent cornerback Jimmy Pruitt, according to the NFL transactions wire.
The release of Scobee left Kai Forbath as the lone kicker on the roster, although they had three kickers in for tryouts during the three-day rookie minicamp over the weekend.
The moves left the Saints with 89 players on the roster, leaving them room to add one more player to reach their 90-man offseason limit.
Former Air Force tight end Garrett Griffin is reported to have signed after he participated in the weekend minicamp. The Saints have not announced the signing.
Pruitt was a three-year starter at San Jose State, where he played safety as a sophomore and cornerback as a junior and senior. His agent announced the signing Sunday.

I guess this is why the Garrett Griffin signing hasn't been listed as official yet:
Former Air Force tight end Garrett Griffin could need to fulfill a two-year military service obligation before he can join the New Orleans Saints, the Colorado Springs Gazette has reported.
The report said Griffin, an undrafted free agent who reportedly signed with the Saints after a three-day tryout last weekend, could be limited to participating in offseason practices before he can join an NFL team full-time.
The Saints, with six tight ends on the roster, have no shortage of players at that position. But they appear to have liked Griffin (6-foot-4, 240 pounds) enough to give him a longer look. His ability as a long snapper is likely a plus, too.
From the Gazette: "There will still be the issue of at least a two-year military commitment for Griffin, which will begin with time in Wyoming serving as a missile maintenance officer. Past Air Force players to sign with NFL teams have been able to only attend camps by coordinating schedules with available leave time, but none have made an active NFL roster until their commitment was completed."
Griffin told the Kansas City Star last week after a tryout with the Chiefs he had to do a two-year military commitment "no matter what."
The Saints did not include Griffin among a list of signed tryout players Monday. The Air Force acknowledged his signing with a Twitter message Monday.
Griffin caught 41 passes for 678 yards and eight touchdowns over four college seasons.

The Saints made a pair of roster moves by waiving defensive end Mitchell Loewen and officially signing tight end Garrett Griffin.
Loewen, who was seen wearing a walking boot at recent organized team activities, was waived with a non-football injury designation.
Griffin, a tight end out of Air Force, caught 41 passes for 678 yards over three collegiate seasons. He also has the ability to serve as a long snapper.
The Saints intention to sign Griffin has been known for several weeks.
Griffin has a commitment to the Air Force and is waiting to find out if he will be ruled a reserve, which would allow him to play for the Saints. A source indicated that this is the likely outcome.
However, he could also be called back, which would put his football career on hold.
United States Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus announced last month that former Navy quarterback Keenan Reynolds will be allowed to play after the Baltimore Ravens used a sixth-round pick on him, and Mabus also cleared Navy graduate Joe Cardona to return to the New England Patriots.
