I read Kiper's and his was a joke. They don't take into account what the teams plans for the draft are (we were focusing on defense) and get all pissy when the team reaches a bit to get the guy they want. He also knocked us for getting rid of Stills and Graham and not replacing them, which is kind of understandable but that was pretty much his reasoning for giving us a C, not upgrading the line of defense dramatically.

It amazes me that some of these "insiders" fail to realize that the draft is for building for the future. We need a franchise T who can protect Brees and maul in the run game, Peat can do that. After Indy took Dorsett, I think that was the end of WR's the Saints had any real interest in this draft. Only picks I really didn't care for were Grayson and Murphy, the rest I'm fine with.

Kiper should do more home--work he would find out Payton thought Josh Hill as good as any Te in this years draft. He Payton stated if Hill was in this years draft he Payton would have graded him the best TE.Also Watson despite age is still solid.Orson Charles was a 4th round pick in 2012 an Lorig can also play TE.Payton stated before draft that Toon was finaly coming along an how high he was on Jones an Coleman an he most likely missed Morgan being resigned.I give saints draft a solid B-plus but may in time be a A-minus or higher.

Charlie Casserly on NFL.com gave us an A - said we grabbed the top player in the draft at two positions, and also "the future" :)

Just read this on WalterFootball:
quote:

New Orleans Saints: Hau'oli Kikaha, DE/OLB, Washington: MAYMILLEN BOXING KIELBASA Grade
WHOA... I didn't even have Hau'oli Kikaha being drafted, and there were teams that didn't even have him on their boards because of numerous knee injuries. The Saints could've A) obtained safer players who are close in terms of talent, or B) waited several rounds to draft Kikaha. This is a major head-scratcher.

He said he overreacted to that and likes every other pick.

Kikaha's medical concern is way overblown.

So Walter Football didn't have a guy listed in his mock who was taken in the second round. Dude has no credibility in the first place

Glad to have him but I'm just wondering if we could have got him at 75. WalterFootball along with everyone else loves the Titans draft...I just don't get it. Mettenberger, as everyone in sports media said at the time, showed promise when he was healthy in his rookie season. And you take a guy who is just not NFL ready. Then you take Dorial Green Beckham. They needed to address defense. Take L. Williams or find a way to trade down for more picks. They have plenty of needs.

On his final mock drafts had us taking Waynes, but had this noted as an alternative option:
quote:

2. Todd Gurley, RB - Gurley to the Saints hasn't been discussed much, but it's definitely a possibility. The Saints don't exactly have great running backs in their stable.

The Saints braintrust have repeatedly fell short drafting defensive guys.

They went big this year on defensive players, and until they show up and play I have little confidence in many if not most of these guys being players.

I hope I'm wrong, but too many misses over the years on the defensive side of the ball make me very wary.

Any grade above a C is surprising.
