2 of the oldest teams in the league. Same division. Mutual hate by both fan bases. Both teams come to play every game no matter how there season is going or what the stakes are.

Many factors go into a rivalry. The falcons are definitely our biggest rival and the most fun games to go to in our division. Fans and teams choose rivalries. Ask any saint or Falcon fan who they hate the most and the answer is always the same.

frick the falcons. Geaux Saints.

They were lucky to get out of the first game with a W.

I guess you missed the playoff part. You could have gone 16-0 in the regular season and it wouldn't have mattered. They can have the #1 seed and still suck a fat cock in the playoffs. Mike Smith is a terrible coach. That may be a little harsh. I would say mediocre at best.

Holy. Boom.

@Doubledouche
STFU, you're a Georgia homer who also likes Alabama. Go back to your hole of shame and continue to root for the next best thing.

And Atl is currently 47-41 against the Saints.

But let me guess, next post will quote this and post some image of the cotton gin or something in black and white?

way ahead of you...I gave credit as a Saints fan.

...Saints own the last decade though. big time...and what's happened more recently does carry more weight--just the way it is.

Falcons won the last one fair and square, so they're entitled the gloat...looking forward to Week 1, gonna be a rowdy, intense, probably close game, most likely.

I have mad respect for the Saints organization and their fans as well. It has been one sided the past few years, but until last year I didn't think Matt Ryan was the right qb either.

And the second I saw the first game was in New Orleans, I .

This won't be the case this year, but even if the Saints went 1-15 this year, I knew that first win would come at Payton's first game back. That dome will be rockin and looking forward to that game. (Crossing my fingers I can find cheap tickets too)

-They don't have a Super Bowl win.
-They scored two points versus the vagGiants in the playoffs, whom we promptly spanked just a few weeks prior.
-Mike Smith likes to go on for it on 4th down in the shadows of their own goal posts.
-Their logo looks like a dirt dobber honing in on the pile of sh*t they call their home.
-Matt Ryan eats his own boogers.

The only thing that makes this a rivalry is that their cheerleaders are better looking than ours this year. They'd do better to put them in pads and nothing else. The players can be put to work constructing that Nickelodeon Crag of a stadium that their crappy team will embarrass themselves in. The end.

Agreed. The only reason it doesn't get the hype like the other games is because neither team has seem to be a powerhouse in the same season (at least not until very recently).

Objectively(I think), that's a tough situation for any team to deal with in Week 1...The Dome is already a tough place to play, but with it being Payton's first game back, it will be extra spicy.

Saints are 16-9 since 2000 and 10-3 since 2006. Is it really a rivalry?

Who gives a shite, this blood feud goes way beyond 2000.

What makes a rivalry? fricking hatred. I hate the Falcons. I hate their colors, stadium, shamrock loving coach, Roddy White, and their shitty fans.

frick the Falcons. We could get our arse whooped every game we are in and as long as we sweep Atlanta I could walk away a little happy inside.

Agreed, hatred was always there, it just gets national media attention now. I remember while growing up my Dad absolutely hating the Falcons.

We've hated that team since 1967. Plus their fans are sub-human.
A lot of them are Alabama fans, which explains a lot.
(with apologies to those sensible Tide fans who are Saints fans)
