When he plugged in PT at the end of the season all of a sudden it just happened?

Payton always abandon the run because he didnt feel confident with it. And when we were down last year he would always completely give up on it to early, we still dont know if Payton has completely made a run 180. Im interested to see the first time we get down, if he sticks with it.

Dumb post.

If they werent doing it, then everyone has the right to say they cant.

PPl were shitting on the OL in the first pre-season game. And if you look at the facts. The last 8 games of last year we avg a 4.6 YPC. Also, the last 8 games had a lot to do with PT and Carl Nicks taken over at Guard.

If you look at the facts, this team showed at end of last year they could run the ball and now it has carried over.

So actually your post is dumb.

Any commitment to the run (even if it's just 3 weeks) is an improvement for Payton and a sign that he's able to learn as a HC.

The Bills game was pretty tight most of the way and he stuck with it. It paid off gangbusters for him in the second half. PT really took over that game even though Hamilton was doing a more than manageable job in the first half.

I think Payton has learned his lesson he is a very good head coach and the greatest play caller in the NFL today so I dont think being approximately 50/50 run pass these past three weeks will suddenly stop he has enough confidence now to continue with it.

We on the same page and I agree with you. But in the Bills game we were never down. We havent been down at all this year. But the Bills hopefully was a good indication because it was hard to throw the Football that day and we wore them down with the run. I think Payton knows its important to have the balance since we havent been successful without it the past 2yrs. But its "Baptism under fire". Hopefully it doesnt happen but if we go down 2 scores in the 2nd quarter sometime this year, I hope he doesnt abandon it.

I just want to see continued balance and rhythm. If you spread 25 attempts amongst 4 backs throughout a 60 minutes game you could run around and tell people you like to run the ball but it's just not true.

Now he's giving the backs multiple and back-to-back carries on the same drive. It's creating a rhythm. It's causing defenses to play more honest. And it's giving credibility to the play action where before it was a joke because opposing defense wouldn't bite on it.
