Rooney Rule is not to guarantee a Black head coach.

It was set up so these teams would interview Black guys so that NFL front offices would see guys that they were not interviewing before the Rooney Rule.

This interview process might not get a Black head coach. These Black guys could be truly in the running the next time a job came up. Based on an interview that they did with said team.

Brian Flores was let go because he could not get along with his staff. Brian Flores was his own problem.

With the allegation that the owner offered him 100K a game to tank, does that perception of him not getting along with staff have any merit? IF the allegation is true, ownership could very well have just leaked that because they were pissed he didn’t tank

The Rooney Rule shouldn't exist at all. Interview whoever you want or don't interview them. At the end of the day wins and losses are all that matters

The Flores situation is the reason Sylvester Croom never got the Alabama Head Coaching job. Not because he wasn't a good coach but because of the fallout of letting the Black Head Coach go after a winning season. See if Shula gets let go after a winning season no big deal. Which is exactly what happened.

The rule is for ethnic minorities, not just black people.

Also, why do you keep capitalizing black? Do you do that with white?

But he just completed 2 consecutive winning seasons for the first time since 2003. So clearly, that’s not all that matters.

It's been mentioned plenty that there were issues between him and the organization. Winning doesn't cure everything and only stupid people truly believe that.

Is that because he refused to tank the season?

Your are correct in the subject line, but then spin it any way you want. What happened to him, or ANY CANDIDATE, with the NYG interview process/selection was BS.
Candid (mistaken ID) congratulatory text from CBB is clear the decision IRT selecting a HC was completed days before Flores had his in-person interview.

Can't speak to his claims at Miami or Denver, but IRT Denver it would not surprise me. Elway has been a below average GM. Claims in Miami are serious and should be investigated.

Flores finished the season winning 8 out of 9, including beating the PATS in a meaningful game. He fielded a physical/fast DEF and subpar OFF due to personnel (AKA no QB, like our team). It's evident the guy did not lose his players and they rallied around his message and style as the season unfolded.
Just saying - seems he would be qualified to be a HC in the NFL.

That's the word on the streets. Also that he refused to meet with Watson since it'd be considered tampering.

These teams have targets that if they come in and interview they get the job. All the other interviews are a formality. Daboll was New York's target, and Flores was not. He is really reaching on the racism claim on this one. There's no proof other than speculation and stats on hiring over the years. Flores would literally have to have find someone to say "yeah the owner said 'I'm not hiring a black guy'" to have any case.

Precisely my point. The dolphins labeled him as that because he wouldn’t do something unethical. I’ll admit I stupidly rushed to judge Flores, but looking at all the details, this feels like it could light a fire.

the rule is an insult to blacks, showing once again how society portrays them as helpless.........and a slap in the face to owners.

hey owners, we know you're in it to win, and will likely hire the best candidate to win you games, but we know you're only hiring whites, right?

Meh, I don't know pal.

Sounds like Flores was let go because he didn't want to tank for the owner.

The giants coach text from belichek prob caused him to lose it and go scorched earth.

Sad, seemed like a good coach, he's radioactive now

This is exactly right. And, Flores got a job. And, he was now a pretty consistent candidate for future jobs.

Yet, Flores decided to take the system and try to sue anyway. He's blaming the system that, at least for him, worked and worked well.

Victimhood is a mentality. And, now it is an industry.

Best guy for the job, race be damned. That stupid affirmative action era rule needs to die.
