Realistic trade options before the Nov. 3 deadline?

There's quite a few receiving weapons out there that are rumored to be potential trade guys. But it doesn't have to be one of them - is there anyone out there that you all think a team would be realistically willing to part with for a 3-5th round pick?

It's obvious this team needs receiving help. We could use a savvy vet.

Guys I've at least seen mentioned... Not saying we should but:

Steve Smith (Ravens supposedly said no, but....)
Vernon Davis
Roddy (ew)
Cordarelle Patterson

Anyone not here you guys think a team could part with?

On the flip side: any chance we offload one of our RBs? We could even potentially flip a guy like Khiry for a middling WR.

Matt Forte? He's a RB. We have those.

I clearly said "not saying we should," but I took him out to avoid 100 of the same reply.

Steve Smith would be the best option, and I know Payton likes him as a player, so unless Baltimore loses their game tomorrow night I don't see them shopping their best receiver. The rest of that list is very lackluster.

Given that Smith's contract is up after this year they may want to get whatever they can for him. A 1-6 team has a lot of freedom with trading players.

I was more looking to see if there was anyone out there that you all think we could go and get. Doesn't have to be exclusively from that list. Those are just the names that have been mentioned by media.

This team needs receiving help bad, bottom line.

There's a big IF for us to waste money right now on a WR that probably won't be a game changer.

That is a need we will address hopefully in the draft and in FA.

My main concern at this point, even if Smith was available, what would be a realistic offer for him? I wouldn't want to give anything higher than a 6th round pick.

Anyone thinking S. Smith is coming here needs to share their stash.

Well the Saints are piecing together the beginnings of a decent run. Having help in the receiving corps could be just enough to make the difference in one game. Given the fact that Smith is an aging player and our front office has shown the desire to operate in a "win now" mode, even if that player helps you swing one game in the regular season to your favor then it would be worth a late pick, IMO.

No trade will happen but I would love to have Steve Smith. He could teach Cooks how to be an aggressive small receiver. Plus I think he would be a good spark in the locker room.

-He has proven he can still play well
-He fits a hole on the team
-He is on a team with conditions favorable to a trade
-He has a contract that is favorable to a trade

Is it a stretch but still a possibility. If Baltimore loses one more game they are effectively looking for anything that can help them next year.

-Professional football players will like whatever team that writes them a check.
-We have one maybe two players on our defense that played against him when he was in Carolina, so that perceived "hate" could be not so much of an issue.
-If he wants one last chance to win a ring, then a trade to any team with a better record is statistically a better option.

He hates whoever he is playing against but him and CSP have a little bromance going on.

Yeah, but does he have a nickname or would we just call him Steve Smith?

If he doesn't have a nickname then we can't use him.

He's a free agent next year so unless we are giving up a 7th rounder than I'll pass.

There was a lot of respect shown to Steve Smith after the preseason game this year by Payton, Brees and Cooks and he returned the respect. It wasn't the typical Steve Smith a-hole response to us. I think he got that out of his system last season.

I believe so. Again, dive into the crazy mind of the front office. They have shown they are in a win-now mode with Brees, a late late rounder wouldn't be a terrible trade for someone who fits a role for us right now. If things turn well for us towards the end of the year he might be convinced to pick up another 1 year contract, who knows?

Think what Sharper did for us in 2009, regardless of the fact that his best pickup line came from a street pharmacist. Football is a team sport, but sometimes one player can make such a difference. Snead and Moss are both very competitive for each catch, it'd truly be a much better offense with him on the field.
