Serious question- to start a debate, not a fight.

Why do some Saints fans act so butthurt over other fans wearing paper bags?

The bags are funny. An amusing/silly way to show that you are displeased with the way the team is playing, but still support the team.

I totally agree that it is WAY to early to wear paper bags in October, but if we are 1-8, or 2-9. go for it.

The paper bags were created in 1980 as a joke by fans who still supported the Saints despite their awfulness, but didnt want to be recognized (the whole thing is a hilarious joke that we Saints fans started, and we should own it because its been copied all over the country).

If you don't like the bags, don't wear them. To me, a real fan wears a bag to the Superdome. A fake fan doesnt go to the game at all.

I don't really have a problem with it

But I think it is too early given what Brees and Payton have accomplished here since 2006. If we suck next year, bring it back

Bags made sense after decades of suckage, not 1.25 seasons

If you really don't want to support the team then don't show up to the games. You are not going to get the old man's attention if he continues to roll around in money. He's a business man and as long as he continues to make money he doesn't give a shite.

I can't wait until people start giving up their season tickets because I wasn't old enough to afford any when they were available.

By sending a message to the front office and not renew season tickets.

I kinda think it's an open invitation to douchebaggery, as if Falcons fans really needed any prompting, they are bad enough already. By that I mean, this is like handing the opposing fans in the stands a big paddle and bending over, saying hit me with it, repeatedly, come on, give it to me, oh yeah daddy. It's just straight up bending over and volunteering it. If people are walking around the concourse or outside the Dome wearing paper bags, you don't think that visiting Falcon fans are gonna have a FIELD DAY with that, jeering and taunting and get all in your grill and mess with people wearing the bags? Sorry if you're displeased with the team, or the ownership, but that's not how I want to spend a Thursday night, inviting visiting fans to gleefully point and taunt me and my stupid paper bag while laughing and taking pictures for their Facebook back home. I guess you could maybe stand outside the Dome and charge Falcons fans $1 each to take a picture posing with your little group of baghead fans....that might work.

Because it is immature and embarrassing. If that is how the "Who Dat Nation" wants to be seen around the country, go for it. I think supporting your team with class is a better option. If you don't want to support the team, jump off the bandwagon. I think too many of today's "fans" are so new that they have not gone through the bad seasons supporting this organization and to some extent, are spoiled.

You think they don't know something is wrong? The saints were 11-5 in 2013 and now they will have sucked for 2 years and you want to send a message? Some of you fairweathers sure are spoiled and impatient. If they do nothing to fix things and they continue to suck for a couple more years, go ahead and send a message, but I don't see them sitting on their hands like they did during the Mora years.

No they are not.

It shows that you just don't like that we are losing. It shows that you are a fairweather fan that has no idea what it's like to be a long time fan of a football team and make the rest of us look bad. I'd rather you just not show up at all.

What is the benefit? Benson doesn't care about paper bags, he cares about paper bills. You want to send a message to Benson do it by not buying tickets to the game. You want to send a message to ESPN wear a bag. The bags do not foster the change people want, they just highlight how bad things have gotten to the rest of the nation. They are the ones that find it amusing and humorous, not the local fan base.

It's a free country. You want to wear a dildo taped to your forehead, go ahead. You want to wear a paper sack, that's fine too. But we have the right to call you a dick for doing so. And it's really not funny.

Because in this age of social media this is not something we need hanging over our head(Yes, I know). This is 2015, not 1981. We would be crucified in social media all over the world if fans brought this back.
