Rare but we should, Titans preparing to release QB Zach Mettenberger.

Sean Payton and Mettenberger would be something to see in my opinion. I would absolutely love to have him down here and sit under Brees for a couple years.

I would've thought he had some trade value.

The teams he played on were pretty bad.

If they cut I would give him a tryout with Saints, would like to see Payton work with him, could be better backup option than McCown with potential to develop into starter one day when Brees retires.

McCown is near the end, why not get a backup that could potentially replace Brees one day.

Would not give up a draft pick for him though.

I'd be ok with this, even if he is LSU

The only way it would happen/make sense for us to sign him (I do like him and think he has potential to be a slightly above average starting QB potential)is if Payton thinks Grayson is not the answer or that Mett is just head and shoulders above Grayson. No matter what kind of insight any of us think we have, the only people to really have an idea on that is the coaches from Grayson's practice.

I'd like to see Mett go to either San Diego or Arizona to sit a couple years behind Rivers/Palmer. Each QB has similar traits/build to Mett, are established good starters that Mett could sit behind and learn for a year or two until they retire.

McCown knowing this system like the back of his hand is probably why Zach would have zero shot to be the #2 QB this year.

McCown proved his value in his start last year

I'm not sure about Mett but are you serious?

Brees is really fond of having an experienced backup who knows what they're seeing and can really help him on the sideline. I think that's why, even though we've seen a couple guys come through who would probably play better in a Brees-season-ended scenario, we still stick with McCown.

Plus, we have Grayson who is grooming behind both to become the future QB, and he has a much higher draft pedigree than Mett.

I like Mett but there isn't enough reason to choose him over either of our guys to roster him instead. Doubt this happens.

I don't see the harm in bringing Mett in. He's got starting experience and has had absolutely nothing around him in Tennessee. At worst, I think he could be a very formidable backup.

Tennessee would be absolutely torn apart if they didn't start their number two overall draft pick regardless of the talent. That was going to happen. You don't draft a franchise QB and number two overall pick to sit on the fricking bench.

he's slow afoot and has a slow release. He'd be a terrible fit for this offense. I do like his talent tho

He's worth about a 6th/7th round pick to the right team. For us, he isn't even worth a 7th. He has no place on this team with our 3 current qb's. I assume his agent would advise him to go to a team where he would have a chance at making the roster.

To add to what Lester said, he also has no pocket presence. Never has. Pass

I saw him at Bogies last week, I loved mett at LSU but he's not an NFL caliber QB. This would be a bad decision
