I don't care who we played against because the old defense would have given up at least 14 points the last few games. Hoyer looked great last time we played him and he sucks. So to say it's nothing that we have 2 straight shut outs on defense is crazy. Like I said, the difference between this defense between the last 2 years is night and day. It's very obvious too so if you can't see that I'm sorry. From technique to assignments you can visually see the dramatic improvement.
Again.... if 7-9 is the floor with the worst ranked defense then with an obviously improved defense you think 10 wins is an exaggeration?.....

You're still talking about preseason

Vegas has no bias against the Saints. Why are they picking us to finish last and why is our win total 8.5? Surely you're going to bet money on the Saints

Because comparing last year and the year before's preseason is the only thing we have to compare this team to at all.... Preseason win and loses don't matter but how your 1st teams play does.
You seem so sure they won't get more than 8.5 I surely hope you have money on it also big guy.
Again you can't answer the question of, with this defense obviously looking improved, is it unreasonable to think with a mid-ranked defense this team could easily get to 10 wins? No it isn't at all. Go ahead and keep believing vegas odds that came out before the teams even started practicing though.

10-6 or 11-5 is very plausible.

But so is 7-9 and 8-8.

We HAVE to stay healthy and we need to be at least .500 or 3-1 headed into the bye. We can't afford a slow start. We stay healthy, get out to a decent start, and I like our chances. Our guys need confidence, especially the rookies. We get some confidence and we're going to be dangerous. We shite the bed early, though, and we're talking about a long season.

Gyno is a reasonable guy. I think he's just making a cautious prediction. I personally think the Saints were better last year than in 2015, even with the record being the same. But 7-9 for 3 straight years is enough for a lot of people to think it'll be another mediocre year, because that's what they've been. I do like what I've seen and like the roster moves, adding guys like Klein, and the draft picks look good. I think that, along with Payton in a must win season, will push them toward a 2-3 win improvement. If everything clicks they could be very good.

Because of the last 3 years. And the last 3 years had a pretty regular cast and crew (and injuries) that produced mediocrity. That has changed this year with turnover on staff and player additions. It will change this year. For the better. Coaching alone will make all the difference. We have a winnable schedule. I can see 10 wins easy so long as we stay healthy. That is key. I feel 9-10 wins is the floor and 11-12 would be my perfect scenario if Saints get all the breaks throughout the season.

You keep fighting the good fight though buddy. Someone always has to argue the other side.

I answered the question

You. Are. Talking. About. fricking. Preseason. Against. Bad. QBs.

The odds are changing everyday dude

What fight do you think that is exactly? I never even made a prediction. I'm calling for our fans to be cautiously optimistic for once. They called for double digit wins the past few years under the same premise of better players. Now we are talking preseason games vs terrible QBs as a reason for optimism

You think a guy named throbinghood on saints talk has a better guage on possible success better than Vegas? Bc our D looked good for a few meaningless series vs bad QB?

When you're realistic the outcomes are a lot easier to swallow. Try it gent

Me and 90% of the people on here see this team as a better than 8 win team, and most 10+ wins. Also a blind fricking person could see the vast improvement in defense.

We. Played. Same. Bad. QB. Last. Year.
Against the defense last year Brock Osweiler went 12-19, 126 yards and a TD in just over a quarter of play. He was a bad Qb who played very well against our shitty defense.
This year, in about the same playing time, he went 6-14, 42 yards. Same guy.... (and don't use the "he is on a different team" bull crap because you for sure took into account Sam Bradfords stats from freaking 2015)

As a defense they gave up 34, 16, 27, and 23 in last years preseason. The defense has given up 20 total points in 3 games now. That points directly to improved coaching and better overall talent on defense. Again with imporved defense

But keep saying the Saints aren't a good team and using last years team to gauge them instead of what we have seen this year.

I'm going with 10-6 also, but with picking up a lot of a steam towards the end of the season.

You should. This dude is gonna be shitting on us for a long time.

I'm absolutely positive he will be a top 3 QB in the league for a long stretch. No doubt.

What the frick are you babbling about? Of course fans will be optimistic every year. Teams make additions and subtractions to try and IMPROVE. Fans of a team almost ALWAYS look at those said moves with some sort of optimism.

This year is NOTHING like the past several. We have made wholesale changes to the COACHING side of things for once and made what shows to be great FA and drafting acquisitions on the defensive side of the ball (and offense too). It has shown in leaps and bounds throughout camp and in preseason. Of all years to be optimistic about this team THIS is the year. Pipe down Nancy. We haven't seen good linebacker play on this team in years or much D line pressure either. It's been refreshing to say the least. We will see how it translates in a few weeks.

Don't see it at all.
Wilson; Luck, Mariota, Carr all will be much better for the foreseeable future. Rodgers isn't going anywhere for the next 5 years. Stafford is absolutely better than Winston, he's 29.

Check his stats, Winston is an inefficient turnover machine.

I agree with you on your opinion on Winston, he just doesn't seem as good as the rest of the good young QBs in the NFL right now. That being said, the Bucs have good weapons in Howard and Jackson + a stout defense. I think they'll be let down on offense by an inefficient running game. Their record will be 9-7 or 10-6.
