Potential “racism” fallout of starting Dalton?

I just had a thought:

Does anyone think Allen might be hesitant to make a change to Dalton because of some concern of possibly facing a cry of “racism” from the media—or even internally?

Because if he were to go to the bullpen, the media has already given him PLENTY of cover with the incessant beating of the “30/30” drum, and it’s an almost consensus opinion that he’s too careless with possession of the ball—as demonstrated by SO OFTEN going for the home run play versus taking the intermediate and moving methodically down the field. Unfortunately for us, he’s been very guilty of this just in these last 2 games; it can be argued that both games would have been wins had he been more patient and hit those 5, 8, 11 yard plays rather than going for the long-ball score so often.

Consider this blurb from a Yahoo Saints Wire article:
“ Look at how the Saints possessions have ended through three games. Out of their 37 drives, just 6 have ended with touchdowns, and 5 with field goal tries (2 missed, 1 blocked). They’ve punted 16 times, ended 9 with a turnover, and they’ve turned it over on downs once. That’s a worryingly low success rate no matter how you slice it.”
Painful!

I’ve been pulling for Jameis, wanting to see him continue to mature and be a success; I am a Saints fan over ANY single player though, and I can’t help but find myself at the conclusion that he just can’t be “fixed”!

What will it take to get DA to make a change? Because something needs to!

You can use the injury as an excuse. Praise Jameis for being tough and trying to stay on the field.

Yes, absolutely, 100percent.

The irony is that those screaming "racism" are actually the biggest racists of all.

I have no doubt it has entered his mind for sure. How can it not be. He is probably frightened on being blackballed. Can’t blame him

The idiots on this team Black-maled Drew Brees into trading his support for the military and police for taping the names of criminals on his helmet....what do you think Allen is thinking?

Bingo. The fans crying for Dalton have no idea what they’re really even asking for. Dalton at his best had teams far Better than this one around him and still couldn’t even win a playoff game. We gain nothing by going to him at this point except losing favor in the locker room with players who believe in Jameis.

I’m tired of people trying to use the race card. Either you can play or not. It’s as simple as that.

No doubt.

Saints were spoiled by having one of the greatest QB's in History.

When he showed signs of slowing down, many turned on him.

Dalton/Winston/Taysom are gonna make a lot of em' realize....

I don’t really care if people are stupid enough to relate racism to a QB change. If they are that idiotic then they would be the real racists. The fact is Winston is hindering g the team wether it be because he’s hurt or he’s just being Jameis I don’t really give a shite. Can’t be any worse than yesterday was with Dalton.

I’m not gonna try to act like I know what Dennis Allen is thinking. I’d imagine that the thought has crossed his mind

I’m more interested in the temperament of the locker room towards having jameis as their QB. And I’m not talking about race related crap either. How do they feel about having him as their starting QB? If they support it, you almost have to ride it out for fear of losing the locker room… if DA gets the impression that some of the vets think it’s time for a change maybe go for it

But in all actuality, I don’t think it matters because I don’t believe that dalton is the answer either

No. You play the better player. It’s like people just ignore how bad Dalton was last year. The fans that don’t know football are the ones screaming for a QB change because they don’t actually understand what they are watching. “Oh the team loses, time to make a QB change”.

If Dalton looks better than Winston in practice then you play him. My guess is that Winston has looked much better otherwise they would have been playing Dalton during Winston’s injury
