getting Bunkley on th D-line took care of a need. Don't know much about Chamberlain from the Rams but he is familiar with what Spags wants to do on defense. Looks like we'll have to draft some secondary help. Haven't been looking at the prospects at the safety position for this year's draft. Up until a few weeks ago, I was only looking at DL,LB,OG,and WR.

Smith and Vilma being on the top of the hierarchy so to say will be penalized a hefty amount, Vilma the most due to all the allegations. Harper will be right up there with them all since he was GGG's poster child for laying the wood, all his big hits and penalties/fines you have to know he was endorsing the bounty system fully.

I just hope that Jenkins being so new to the defense at the time wasn't a part of it, and since Greer isn't a hitter wasn't involved. That said will these guys get penalized for their involvement in the reward/pay for interceptions, TD's, sacks etc? If so all named thus far could be suspended since even someone like Greer who doesn't look for big hits but Int's/TD's would be involved I would think.

Smith and Vilma being suspended does not concern me nearly as much as a saftey or CB. Harper would be one thing. Jenkins is devastating IMO

Exactly, we dealt without both Smith and Vilma, but losing our best corner and a Safety who has so many responsibilities would be devastating.

Well are they just going to let porter skate? Im sure he got a big check for that int against manning. If they going to dish out suspensions they need to be fricking fair. But this arse hat will never do that.

who knows, Porter is still denying bounties existed to this day.

We will be able to stagger the suspensions.

I think Goodell's gonna hammer Will Smith. Doesn't matter so much what he may have actually done.

Remember, they were after him for the StarCaps thing. I get the sense that Roger's a vindictive little cuss, and this will be the chance for him to tack on a few extra games, just for spite.

I was talking about the hit where he laid Favre out on a reverse that the Vikings ran. He got fined for that.

I never said anything about that awesome hit on Warner being dirty. Crazy bastard

I thought the same at first, but the more I think about it, I doubt there are going to be many suspensions at all.

I do think Vilma will get hit because he's been specifically implicated for the bounty on Favre, but I won't be the whole season or 8 games. I'm thinking more like 4-6 games.

There is a reason that Goodell didn't involve the NFLPA in this whole investigation process. Wouldn't you think Goodell would want their input on an issue he claims is about player safety??

He didn't include them because he knew the union would not have backed such harsh sanctions because so many of the members are involved in similar systems on other teams, or at least know the real motivation was not to injure, but merely promote aggressive play.

If Goodell slams Vilma the way he did Payton, he will have the entire union coming out and defending Vilma and attacking the investigation throughout a lengthy appeal process.

Goodell doesn't want that kind of backlash.

That's why he hammered Payton right off the bat and is waiting for the player suspensions. He wanted to keep the players quiet out of fear of suspension while the media pushes his "player safety" agenda without a response by players.

He knew that with Payton, he can get his point across and doesn't have to fight a union, but just pick off a lone target.

The lack of or very minor player suspensions that will come out will just go to show what a pussy Goodell was in this whole situation and show that it truly wasn't about player safety.

The player suspensions will not be announced until the week leading up to the draft, once the interest in the story has died down and so that they will quickly be brushed aside for draft coverage.

Vilma will be the one serious hit, and it will likely be 4-6 games because Goodell will hope that will be acceptable in light of Payton's suspension and may not even be appealed. Vilma will probably apply for a reduction which will be granted after 3 weeks or so.

IMO FWIW FTW

Defense need to be overhauled anyway, cut the ones that get suspended and sign someone through draft of FA to take their place.

I'm a homer but UL cornerback Dwight Bentley may be available around the third round. I think that would be a good pick if we're looking to draft a DB there.
