Can anyone tell me how Pete Carmichael coached the saints offense to a top 3 ranking in 2012?? I know we had good players including Brees . So seems to me it more of a roster situation than coaching. Hint the GM needs to go.

Yeahh then he went to carr:/ so jury still out for me if Pete is actually a good OC or bad . I hope he gets another shot to prove himself. After all he did spend nearly a century in New Orleans helping lay down a foundation. So really don’t understand all the bad Ill towards the dude . Can’t wait till our brand new OC has the same results next year$$$$. But hey at least we made a change to make the casual happy. Let’s not fire the dude who in charge of managing the team . After seeing our cap space problem and miss draft picks idk how Gayle benson is okay with keeping loomis . Or maybe it’s because she honestly doesn’t care . Sports media will hype this team up again next year with a new OC and half of yall will believe it . Buy season tickets again to keep Gayle pockets deep . Regardless if she actually makes the true change in firing loomis cause he sure the hell won’t fire his self

easy, he didnt, he was OC in name only because payton was the OC/HC. i think pete was nothing more than a glorified yes man assistant coach under payton even though he held the OC title

lol when you realize Payton was suspended for the 2012 season. So Pete was actually calling plays buddy . Or we just not gonna remember the times he actually called plays to fit this weird agenda that a new OC gonna change the whole offensive situation. Like we magically gonna have everyone playing like all pros on the oline

Oh damn wait wasn’t our oline super bad this year ? Did we change the position coach ? Or did we just find the easiest dude to place the blame on ? Loomis is probably at church every Sunday thanking god y’all kinda forget he basically the HC :/

Carmichael was managing the team but by then the system was running itself.

Brees had a big hand in offensive planning and play calling iirc though he says he was still just the QB.

Carmichael's claim to fame was QB coach. Which I contend he did a fine job at when that's what he was able to focus on. He was never an in game manager and his deficiencies showed once the spotlight was on him after CSP left.

I agree to a certain extent. Yes he had drew now he had carr . So to me if he had a QB with half the talent drew had then we wouldn’t be talking about him like he this awful coach . I just don’t think he had the talent to produce an offense like 2012 . So this is more of a roster problem. Not a Pete Carmichael problem. And I think we will see that next year with our new OC . I’ll shut up till then maybe im wrong tho . We shall see hopefully I’m wrong and carr turns into an all pro QB . And AK finally rushes for 1k yards in a season

I think you also need to take into consideration that in 2012 the offense the Saints were running, CSP's offense was still fresh and most teams were trying to emulate it. Fast forward to 2023 and the offensive strategies have changed significantly but the Saints approach hasn't. For sure it's a combination of things but it starts with a shift in offensive game planning and play calling.

Nice assessment . I appreciate your alternate view of the situation! I agree it’s a number of things . But then again the saints offense is usually the prototype offense nfl teams would want to ruin . Hell lsu adopted it in 2019 supposedly. There’s not that many true spread offenses in the nfl like you trying to make it seem like . The raven is really the only offense that runs a college style offense cause they have the QB to do it . With that being said I can see that eventually these spread offenses eventually show up more and more in college as kids these days that all they know how to run .

Brees is among the greatest quarterbacks of all time. He made lots of guys look better than they are

Or changed the stupid ones, since he had that leeway in the offense.

Or Drew over came his stupidity.
Last two years should lead you to the correct conclusion.
