No QB's drafted. No fourth QB probably in camp. Show's how much Payton wants to see Hill work. I bet he gets a ton of time in the preseason. Maybe 70% of it.

Or we had more pressing needs at the picks we had and if it wasn't the big 6, no need to bother.

I could google this, but where did Mason Rudolph end up going?

That would be a surprise no doubt.

hope Payton's right about him...

but the fact that he's allowing his possible replacement for a 1st ballot HOFer to play gunner on ST tells me how much he "values" Hill as a QB...

Yeah, I don't think Taysom Hill is the guy I know he's a great athlete, he is accurate on short and mid range passes, but dude cannot throw the deep ball at all. Yeah yeah, people say that about Brees which is BS, but this dude really has no deep ball. I don't care about his age, even at late 20s, if he does pan out, that's still 10 plus years approximately he could play, but I don't see it happening.

Brees will
Be here for 2 years, maybe 3. No need to find the guy now, his focus is obviously winning a super bowl before Brees retires, not find his replacement

I am going to reserve judgement until we see him on the field as a QB and not tackling a punt or kickoff returner.

Let’s see what he does. CSP watched tape on him while at Green Bay.

I dont think its that. I see plenty people thinking he is the successor to Brees but he hasnt played a snap at QB for us. He could be another Grayson for all we know. I dont believe Brees replacement is on the roster and the Saints are all in on Brees. They are worried about winning now and getting his replacement later if Taysom doesnt pan out.

So who should we have taken? There wasnt another DE taken in the first rd. At 27 we would have had to reach for a DE or even a QB.

Here is something to ponder

Marcus Davenport projected to be the most productive pass rusher in the draft

quote:

According to Nathan Forster of ESPN and Football Outsiders, Davenport is projected to have 25.9 sacks through his first five seasons which makes it the most for any other edge rusher. The projected stats are done by SackSEER who precited success for edge rushers such as Von Miller and Kalil Mack. Here's what Forster had to say about Davenport. SackSEER's numbers give Davenport just the slightest edge over the more highly touted Chubb. As Clay Matthews and his 4.5 career college sacks can tell you, success at the edge rusher position can often be more about potential than production. Davenport shows statistical signs that he could be ready to similarly blossom in the NFL.

You just said what i said Thursday nite after the draft yet i got crucified and you got a free pass.

But yea no reason to get a QB now but i think next year might be the year we start grooming one.

i Think they want Hill to be the second stringer.

Sold on him as the heir apparent because we grabbed a pass rusher and now players rather than a developmental QB? That’s a reach.

Brees has probably committed to playing at least two more years is a better explanation.

I don’t think the guy would be covering kickoffs and punts if he was the QB of the future.

Another thing is, why do we necessarily need to find Brees' replacement in the draft? Obviously that would be ideal for contract purposes, but Kirk Cousins was on the board just this year. I'm sure we'd have an opportunity to dip into the free agent pool at some point in the near future if we wanted to. Now that I think about it, haven't the Saints done that to sign a big-time QB before?

I'm convinced that he's not, but if you want that inevitable replacement to learn under Brees, a move needs to be made sooner than later. The Saints have now hamstrung themselves on getting the replacement through the draft next year by making the move up that they did this year. Unless they plan to find the guy in the later rounds like the Patriots did with Etling. That doesn't pan out very often.

Even if a QB learns under him, it wont suddenly make them perform better. An Aaron Rodgers is about as likely as drafting another Brees.

Take a look at any of Peyton Mannings backups and ask yourself why they didnt perform at even half the level he did. We jut have to enjoy the little time we have with a GOAT at the helm.
