Source on Brees says the most optimistic recovery time would be 2-3 weeks. Emphasis on "optimistic." Will depend on healing time, which varies by patient, and when they're convinced he can take a hit without risk of serious re-injury. There is hope he's back in time for playoffs.

Yea people need to stop freaking out. May be a blessing in disguise to have him back before the playoffs well rested.

There's a difference between the bare minimum to come back versus being healthy. With 5 cracked ribs he's not going to be able to throw very far or be very mobile.

He will be out longer than 2-3 weeks. He's 41 years old, and we have a stretch of winnable games.

He will be out AT LEAST a month.

I mean, optimism mixed with doom and gloom. I honestly think this is pretty much where we thought we would be before the report came out. most likely he could play around KC game

I’ve been saying I’m hoping for the KC game since I heard the severity. Falcons twice, Eagles and Broncos. We can manage through that with good defense and creative play calling hopefully

I think he will be back for the Chiefs game. There’s no reason we shouldn’t win all the games in between now and then with what we have.

I just read that he has multiple fractured ribs and a collapsed lung. Non way hes back in 3-4 weeks. His season might be done.

based on what?

a lung is fine in a week or two. then it's ribs which take 4-6 weeks.

He was playing with 3 fractured ribs before yesterday.

Even without Brees, we only need decent QB play to win the next three games. With two games against the Falcons and the Broncos anything other than 2-1 is unacceptable. Jameis should be good enough to win these games.

He will not feel comfortable for at least 6 weeks with those injuries. May play at week 4 or 5, but he likely won't be feeling good or up to his standard until at least 6.

Honestly we could probably manage the rest of the season without him so let him heal. Only toss ups would be Kansas City and Minnesota who always plays us tough. No need to rush him back.

No way in Hades I'd release someone to return to football 2 weeks after a pneumothorax.

I think a lot of it will depend on our record.

If jameis plays similar to teddy there’s absolutely no reason to rush him back in 2-3 weeks.
