Browns released NT Phil Taylor. The first-rounder the Browns got after deciding to trade down and pass on Julio Jones in 2011, Taylor never emerged as more than a run-plugging specialist. He was limited to just five games last season after undergoing a knee scope. Taylor is still a viable NFLer, so it's a bit of a surprising move. The Browns are on the hook for Taylor's $5.477 million salary. Taylor should latch on elsewhere relatively quickly. Sep 1 - 4:15 PM

Signing a DT to play safety would be pretty foolish

Why'd they cut him? I doubt we can afford him if he's going to demand much.

I'm pretty happy with the Williams-Jenkins combo so far

They cut him because Danny Shelton and Cooper emerged at NT. Their two draft picks. I'd love to have this guy.

Fat arse Terrance Cody is still around, but I doubt he could pass a physical fitness test lmao. All he had to do was lose about 20 lbs and clog the middle.

He is getting paid that from Cleveland (guaranteed). He may sign for a reasonable amount seeing as he is getting $5.5 million already.

It would be a solid get IMO.Taylor could spell Jenkins while allowing Williams to stay fresh and rotate to end as well. Overall could be a very solid signing for us if he would be interested in what we could offer.

Which makes me question why they drafted to replace him and why they cut him on the last year of his contract with zero cap savings.

Even if the other 2 guys are phenomenal, dline depth is important and keeping them fresh would be worth a roster spot

Every time an NFL player is released that is even somewhat remotely known you people start a should we thread as if a general manager of an NFL team just cut him on a whim. It's as if it's not the GM's job to asses all feasible possibilities that would allow them not to cut a former 1st round pick and still make the team better. There is a reason he was cut.

And if you read the article it was because they drafted Shelton and signed Starks in FA and they made him expendable.

Jenkins plays way too high and gets driven off the ball on a conistent basis. An upgrade there would be nice
