Obviously an opening into a much larger, longer discussion. Seems like it would be quite difficult to convert the Superdome to this.

Am I the only 1 who remembers the Saints playing the Packers in a preseason game in the late 90s/early 2000s where they tested natural grass inside the Superdome

Gotta think the "stadium field" qualifier would exclude dome fields, at least for now

I do not see how the dome could do this. Zona can as their stadium was made to move turf whole outside

Done would have to in sheets. No way .

Well I agree that natural grass is better, these players sign up to play in the NFL knowing that there is potential for injuries.

Asking the multiple cities that have artificial grass to change to natural grass, is an expensive endeavor.
Plus it renders the effectiveness of a stadium facility to be multi-use completely useless.

It's the NFLPA's blustering to it's constituents to make it sound like they're actually doing something about it.

Not so sure about this request from NFLPA. I remember Gillette Stadium basically being painted dirt in January playoff games. Tennessee’s stadium was always a mess in January - especially after the Music City Bowl until they went to turf. I understand the reasoning behind this reaction at this point in time, but come January, some of these fields are destroyed before the game even starts.

Natural Grass Debuts in the Superdome

The Saints spent $30,000 for the sod and $150,000 to install it.

Approximately 300 41-by-7 foot pieces, each weighing about 4,380 pounds, were put down on the Superdome floor.

Didn't we see this movie already play out years ago? I'm old enough to remember when they were playing on the devastating artificial turf that was nothing more than soft carpet until they finally switched to the ground up used tires we see now. I don't think the ground up tires caused this tear. It was simply the cleats doing their job plus the pressure of a 250lb man. I think we are just looking at scapegoats now.

Grow Lights. It would be expensive upfront but it wouldn't be hard. If Cartels can do it to grow their product, why not NFL teams.

The NFL owners wipe their asses with money.

Don’t you think protecting your million dollar assets (players) is worth a little more $ in grass maintenance?

They would need to set up mobile full spectrum LED lamps and install a sprinkler system.

It's do-able.

The euros did it.
But it just comes down to money in the end. Maybe can get it in a CBA one day.

they don't know if Aaron Rodgers ACL injury had anything to do with the field turf vs grass field

And sacrifice every other event held in the Dome?

Good, football should be played outside in the elements. Buffalo, Green Bay, Miami can do it. Anyone else should too.

Would have to move the entire Smoothie King Center or a parking garage.

I like the fact that every time I buy Saints tickets I don't have to worry about the weather. I don't think watching a game soaking wet or freezing to death would add to my GameDay experience.

Nit all these stadiums are bought and paid for by the team owner though.

Many are state property and maintained with tax dollars among other monies
