They will likely win unless something changes dramatically on Denver's offense.

Three divisions are at .500, with the NFC East dominating at 7-1 and the AFC West at 9-5.

I think most people would have said at the beginning of the year that the AFC West would be pretty tough.

but the NFC East record is surprising.

ATL got the win today to move the NFC South record to 4-8 outside the division.

Atlanta 2 wins: @ Oakland, @ Denver
New Orleans 1 win: @ San Diego
Carolina 1 win: vs. 49ers

two big road wins for ATL but they play @ Seattle next.

Carolina had Denver on the ropes in Week 1 it seemed like but then Denver started knocking Cam's dick in the dirt (4th quarter mainly). They led 17-7 going into the 4th but ended up getting scored on early in that period. Even after falling behind late in the game they had a chance for a win but missed on a long FG attempt on the last play.

this year we come off the bye week at home which can't be a bad thing. The last 2 years @ Lions (2014) and @ HOU (2015) both resulted in losses, no surprise.

We usually have a high 3rd down conversion rate and that will be one of the biggest keys to the game IMO this week.

Our 3rd down conversion rate got better against ATL (7-13) and SD (11-18). First two weeks were pretty bad (4-11) vs. Oakland but the Raiders had the same total on us going 4-11. The big yardage plays made up for that for both of the offenses in that game. Week 2 @ N.Y. Giants the Saints only went 3-13 on 3rd down.. horrible.

Atlanta converted 8-13 against Carolina on 3rd down but fared way better than the slower tempo/ less explosive offenses that Carolina played in the first 3 weeks:

Denver went 5-for-10
49ers went 4-for-14
Vikings went 3-for-12

fwiw neither CAR or the Saints were all that effective last year on 3rd downs at the Superdome. Kind of similar to the Raiders game from this year, plenty of big chunk plays for both offenses. The Saints scored a TD on defense and collected a few other turnovers to keep it close but Carolina won the time of possession by a lot:

36:34 to 23:26

plus I think Breaux got hurt in that game too. He had made an interception early in the game and it helped the Saints get off to a good lead.
