Basically gave a 2nd round pick to the Browns to take on his shite contract.
Wow.
I know its not Saints but that is a significant enough deal to discuss I think.

Cleveland might very well trade Osweiler to someone else

It's interesting, Browns just spent huge money to protect a big arm non mobile qb in osweiler. We'll see how it turns out but it's actually a not terrible plan.

What happens if Romo chooses the Broncos??
Seems like theyve put everything into the Romo basket.

well with the highest paid guard in NFL history you got to get him an overpaid QB to protect

Browns basically just bought a pick with their cap space. Pretty good move.

Texans ship Brock Osweiler and a second-round pick to Cleveland

How big a mistake did the Texans make when they signed Brock Osweiler last year? So big that they’re giving up a second-round draft pick to get out from under his contract.
Osweiler is being shipped to Cleveland, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. The compensation? The Texans have to give the Browns a 2018 second-round draft pick and a 2017 sixth-round pick. The Browns ship a 2017 fourth-round pick to Houston.
That’s right, the Texans are trading Osweiler away and giving up a draft pick, just to get the Browns to take Osweiler’s contract off their hands.
The move will save the Texans $10 million in cap space. The Browns have plenty of cap space and can afford Osweiler’s contract.
Whether Osweiler will be able to start for the Browns remains to be seen, but this trade isn’t about the Browns liking Osweiler. It’s about the Texans wanting so badly to get rid of him that they think he has negative value.

Cleveland gets Sorry QB with big contract, 2018 2nd round pick, and a pick this year. Browns will continue to stay in the dumpster with moves like this. Actually it is sort of Saints related the Top 10 draft board might change a little. lol

First off MSB
Secondly the Browns have $100 in cap space. If there is one team to eat that contract it's the Browns. He'll likely be a roster cut

Cleveland basically paid for a second round pick in a year that they have 100 million in cap space well played by them
Posted on 3/9/17 at 2:53 pm to Fun Bunch
they are all about getting extra picks.
had a boat load of them last year.

This is actually a good move for both teams. Browns get 2nd rounder for money they would probably not use anyway and the Texans get 10 million more in cap space to get better.

I don't understand this move.
Doesn't the guaranteed portion of Osweiler's contract come due to the Texans anyway with this trade...the same as if they were to cut him?

I don't think you understand the purpose of this.

They have money ball people in charge now (starting last year).
Their strategy seems to be just acquire as many possible picks as they can over the course of 3-4 years, use all of the picks, see which guys work out for cheap, invest in the lines.

Just say to yourself the Browns bought a 2nd round pick for 16 million. Its much easier to digest.
