I'm not touting this guy's mock draft. He has Marlon Humphrey going #5 overall, so how good can this guy be?

But he passes along a rumor that I've read on other draft website too; supposedly the Saints love Taco Charlton and will take him at #11 if he's there.

Just passing this along as a a fwiw.

quote:

11. New Orleans Saints: Taco Charlton, DE, Michigan

The Saints could use another edge rusher and a cornerback upgrade. Here's an end to pair with Cam Jordan. From what I've heard from sources, the Saints love Charlton, so I don't think they would pass on him.

Entering the 2016 season, Charlton flashed for Michigan but was mainly a backup and also was used inside at tackle. In 2016 though, he racked up 9.5 sacks, 43 tackles and 13 tackles for a loss as the bookend defensive end with the stout Chris Wormley. The 6-foot-6, 277-pounder Charlton is athletic with versatile size and length to be a base end in a 4-3 defense or a standup linebacker in a 3-4. Charlton is fast, explosive, and has serious upside to develop in the NFL. Teams feel he could go top-10 and should go top half of the first round.

I don't know where they get this from. All I've heard is that there's a prototypical DE that they like. I'm hoping they're talking about Malik and not Taco.

Charlie has been reporting this since the combine. It was in his notes, he said he talked to several scouts from the Saints and they were gushing about Charlton

I think it might just be a diversion tactic though personally

Is anyone really that in love with him? I mean, I like him more than Derek Barnett but there's some real freaks of nature *cough* Malik McDowell *cough* in this draft class you can get to play RE.

I won't be upset if they do pick him at 11 though.

McDowell is really talented. Just questions about his work ethic and character. Wouldn't be surprised though if we picked him at 11. typical saints pick. I like him though. Just a matter of if we feel like he can straighten his issues out.

He's the only one I recall saying the Saints are in love with Taco. He has written it numerous times.

Honest question because I don't recall:

When is the last time the Saints actually selected the player that the sources said they were "gushing" all over?

Exactly, Like Buddy D says, Man this close to the draft if they are talking about a particular player you can bet he's not on their board. It's all about misinformation at this point.

eta. same thing about all this LF going first overall. Teams looking for defensive help and particularly DE that can get tot he QB need, I mean really need LF to go up in those first ten picks.

The Rankins and Vaccaro picks were pretty well predicted.

Rodgers to the 49ers
Manziel to the cowboys
Saints never even met with cooks
Tunsil a lock at 1
No way any RB goes above Ricky Williams

These guys don't know shite. They piggyback off of other mocks and say they have "sources".

Just get a 12 pack of beer and enjoy the draft.
Personally I hope we go

Foster at 11
Tre White/ Humphrey or Quincy Wilson at 32
Tim Williams in the 2nd

it's an edited updated draft but they have had Charlton at that spot for several weeks. I think it just hasn't been revised as per the latest in draft rumors and stock watch.
