quote:

When the current naming-rights deal with Mercedes-Benz ends in 2021, a source confirms to WDSU that the German-based car manufacturer will not continue its sponsorship with the Superdome.

Mercedes-Benz became the first naming-rights sponsor in Superdome history when they agreed to a 10-year deal worth between $50-$60 million in 2011.

Since that agreement, they've entered into a naming-rights partnership with Atlanta, and going forward, will focus their attention on Mercedes-Benz Stadium in downtown Atlanta.

Guess the falcons beat us in SOMETHING.

Not a surprise. I assume the Saints have known about this for a while. I hope they get another good naming rights deal.

I'm sure the Saints knew this from the moment Atlanta built a new stadium and got those naming rights.

They will get a good one since we have a Super Bowl in the near future, but I'm betting a lot of big companies are going to wait until all of this stuff is over first.

I know New Orleans is a shite market, but it always amazed me at how hard it was to get a naming sponsor for the Dome. How many Super Bowls, Final 4s, and National Championships have been played in the dome? Yet, shitty stadiums in similar markets had no problem finding anyone.

I always assumed it was because it is an iconic stadium that everyone still just calls the Superdome.

On September 28, 2006, Pink Taco launched a bid to rename the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans to the "Pink Taco Dome."

How much Amazon making at the moment. I wouldn't be surprised if they throw in a bid for naming rights.

I always figured they wouldn't renew because I remember hearing that whoever at Mercedez Benz made this deal was fired or something for making such a poor deal on their end. Could be completely off base though

I'm actually glad. Mercedes wasn't a good fit IMO. Nothing about n.o. makes me think of something classy like a Benz..lol.

Slap ya mama Superdome
