Meateye's Latest Saints 3 round Mock Draft (With Trades)
Posted on 3/30/15 at 12:28 pm
Posted on 3/30/15 at 12:28 pm
Since nobody goes to the Mock Draft Thread up there^^^^^ I wanted to share this to see what yalls thoughts were on it.
OK well it kinda hurts my feelings because I wanted La'el Collins but it looks like hes going to be gone already.
So we have to go to the best pass rusher available which is Vic Beasley after the Falcons trade up to take Fowler so even though he loves the Falcons he becomes a Saint at #13.
We take our Edge rusher at #13 and then take his team mate at #44 for our thin group of ILBs. While fixing our depleted group of interior lineman at pick #37 after trading back thanks to the Jets.
1st Round
1. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - James Winston, QB, Florida State
*2. Philadelphia Eagles (Trade With Titans)- Marcus Mariota, QB, Oregon
3. Jacksonville Jaguars - Leonard Williams, DT, USC
4. Oakland Raiders – Amari Cooper, WR, Alabama
**5. Atlanta Falcons (Trade With Redskins) - Dante Fowler, EDGE, Florida
6. New York Jets - Kevin White, WR, West Virginia
7. Chicago Bears - Danny Shelton, NT, Washington
**8. Washington Redskins (Trade With Falcons) - Randy Gregory, EDGE, Nebraska
9. New York Giants - Brandon Scherff, OT, Iowa
10. St. Louis Rams - La’El Collins, OT, LSU
11. Minnesota Vikings – DeVante Parker, WR, Louisville
12. Cleveland Browns - Andrus Peat, OT, Stanford
13. New Orleans Saints – Vic Beasley, EDGE, Clemson
14. Miami Dolphins - Trae Waynes, CB, Michigan State
15. San Francisco 49ers - Arik Armstead, DT, Oregon
16. Houston Texans - Eric Kendricks, ILB, UCLA
17. San Diego Chargers – Melvin Gordon, RB, Wisconsin
18. Kansas City Chiefs – Alvin “Bud” Dupree, EDGE, Kentucky
19. Cleveland Browns - Malcom Brown, DT, Texas
*20. Tennessee Titans(Trade With Eagles) - Jordan Phillips, DT, Oklahoma
21. Cincinnati Bengals - Dorial Green-Beckham, WR, Missouri
22. Pittsburgh Steelers - Marcus Peters, CB, Washington
23. Detroit Lions – Nate Orchard, EDGE, Utah
24. Arizona Cardinals – Shane Ray, EDGE, Missouri
25. Carolina Panthers – D.J. Humphries, OT, Florida
26. Baltimore Ravens – Devin Smith, WR, Ohio
27. Dallas Cowboys - Todd Gurley, RB, Georgia
28. Denver Broncos - T.J. Clemmings, OT, Pitt
29. Indianapolis Colts - Landon Collins, S, Alabama
30. Green Bay Packers – P.J. Williams, CB, Florida
***31. New York Jets (Trade With Saints) – Bryce Petty, QB, Baylor
32. New England Patriots – Jalen Collins, CB, LSU
2nd Round
***37.New Orleans Saints (Trade With Jets)- A.J. Cann, G, South Carolina
44.New Orleans Saints - Stephone Anthony, ILB, Clemson
3rd Round
74.New Orleans Saints - Tyler Lockett, WR, Kansas State
78.New Orleans Saints - JaCorey Shepherd, CB, Kansas
* Either the Titans and Eagles trade before the Titans pick Mariota or after, but Mariota is going at #2. Either way Sam Bradford will be a Titan and Mariota will be an Eagle before the year starts.
** Falcons trade the Redskins their 2015 #8 pick and their 2016 3rd round pick for the Redskins #5 pick in the 2015 draft to move up and take Dante Fowler, EDGE, Florida
*** Jets trade their 2nd round pick #37 and their 4th round pick #104 to the New Orleans Saints for pick #31 to draft Bryce Petty, QB, Baylor

I like Lockett but I'm not sure SP wants any more small receivers. Cooks was an exception because of his speed. Otherwise he likes 'em big.
Edt: and he's from K-State. Major faux pas in these parts

Titans have dealt with a QB made of glass the past few years with Jake Locker. Now you think they want to trade for another one in Sam Bradford? Highly doubtful.
and Bryce Petty in the 1st round?

You're certainly a fan of Clemson and Kansas.

Nope not a fan of either. Just players available at the time

I will bet you $100 that Mariota goes #2 and Petty goes in the first round right now.

Well it came down to him or Tre McBride right there.

I wonder if the Titans put Mett on the market in your scenario. They may put a lofty price on him due to his flashes and the question mark that is Sam Bradford.

McBride has about 4 inches and 25 lbs on Lockett so will probably be more durable. We've already got our small speed guys with Cooks and Spiller. Plus I think there's a good chance Lockett is gone before #74. McBride doesn't excite me either, he's more like a backup possession receiver.
edt: At 181 lbs, I doubt Lockett helps much in the run game. Both guys are good returners, Lockett is better but McBride is still good.

meateye you are a great drafter.

With his injury history and now the drug test, I think he falls a little.

I think Mariota ends up like JFF and falls to the 20s until some team makes a trade to take him. I just think the QB situation is weak this year. And I think you mean Titans, not Jags.

I like Beasley, but I'd rather take Waynes over Beasley.

Do you think they go before Perriman?

I think he goes at 2 in one of three scenarios. 1. He goes to the Titans strait up 2.Eagles like I have here (Kelly is hell bent on him and they haven't even talked to Bradford about an extension this being the last year on his contract and an extension would lower his number this year. Seems to me if you traded for a QB you intended to keep this would've already took place) or 3. The Jets move up and take him.
Also the Titans tried to trade for Bradford before the off season.

Yes I did thanks.

You may be right about The Bengals here, as for the Ravens they have a hard on for Smith so that's why I made it their pick here.

Do ever give a real answer to anything?

I was keeping it real. your combination of value to trade activity blended with a dash of need topped with the athleticism and impact that this draft will have immediately is impressive.
Posted on 3/30/15 at 2:07 pm to Chad504boy
If you can give me Anthony, Beasley and Lockett I'll overlook the Cann pick. That fat slob will never be anything in the NFL.
Posted on 3/30/15 at 2:09 pm to FootballNostradamus
I'm SHOCKED you'd be ecstatic about beasley and anthony
FWIW I agree. I don't us getting Beasley unless we trade up but getting those two would make this defense a ton better. I would like to get a good guard higher up in the draft if possible because I'm not sure most want Lelito in the line up. May be a chance this team is willing to take with a great center now.

Im kinda undecided on him myself he was just the best guard available at the time. Why do you feel so strongly that he is going to suck? I'm not saying you're wrong just curious because I haven't seen anyone else that feels that way.

I've watched Cann get hype and accolades for years based simply on how he looks getting off the bus. Make no mistake about it he looks like the kind of person you'd have guarding the Holy Grail itself, but that's not who he is on the field.
He doesn't move his feet well at all and he's Charmin soft. Cann actually reminds me of old Clemson players who looked like Pro Bowlers walking off the bus and turned into a flag football team on the field. Guys like Anthony and Beasley changed that culture and Cann would be sorely out of place now.
I know this much, if you draft Cann you sure as hell better not draft Grady Jarrett cause I'm 100% sure Cann would hold out for an arena team than get his shite pushed in by Jarrett every day at practice like he did his entire college career. Seriously, YouTube Jarrett or the Clemsob-SC game this past year and see what a 6' stump who might get drafted did to Cann.

Yeah that looked pretty bad.
What about Laken Tomlinson? He was still available there too.
