Eagle rare was a mighty good bourbon to drink while watching from home.

I wasn't going to watch TJ Yates from home either.

The bourbon helped

Seriously though. I want to make myself enjoy preseason but once the starters leave the field, so do my cares.

Here is how I view the sports world

1. LSU football
2. College football in general
3. NFL
4. NHL playoffs
5. Soccer
6. Nascar
7. NBA playoffs
8. March Madness
9. LSU baseball
10-99. Recruiting, drafts, battlebots, world series of poker, etc., etc.

100. NFL preseason
101. NBA regular season
102. NHL regular season
103. Baseball

103.

103. Baseball?

You live in ATL? The Braves have a pretty solid following. That new stadium location will show that. The current location SUCKKKSSSS.

It's like putting the Superdome in NO East.

Used to love baseball. Just can't stand it anymore.

Atlanta half time. Savannah half time

new stadium

I will reserve judgement about the ability to get there on a week day. Traffic in that area is already a complete nightmare. A Braves game could make it impossible.

Probably easier to get to than the new one.

And the Braves suck too. I don't see that changing. Maybe ever.

Currently, yes. 2017 (2 years) could be good. They're starting to setup like they did in the 90's. At least that's what I'm shooting for.

Yea, the new stadiums traffic may be bad. Traffic anywhere in ATL sucks. It's what happens when you put a ton of people over like a 500 square mile radius and deem that "Atlanta". Meanwhile everyone in NYC takes a cab or walks because everything is within a 10 mile radius.

I don't have any confidence in the ownership. They don't spend like they did in that era.

I can't see myself ever going because of this unless I get free tickets to a Sunday afternoon game.

10 minutes before kickoff in the superdome and it usually looks the same too.

Nah, not even close. Why dont you post a pic from ten minutes before this weeks game for comparison.

Do you place that much pride in preseason game #1? Hell I am skipping game numberr four since Auburn will be playing at the dome 2 days later. Two of the seats that you will see empty will be mine. Oh shucks.

I don't know if any of you ever lived there. You can't compare a city like Atl to NO. The fan base is all over the place. No one there is a native Georgian. Most are from all over the country.

I've noticed this in Houston as well (such is the fate of any major American city made up of transplants). I know that Atlanta has some pretty hardcore fans in the interior of the city, but unfortunately the price of NFL tickets is so astronomically high that, for some families, they have to make the uncomfortable decision to drive a beater or buy NFL tickets.

And the expanding costs of stadiums is only going to make the price of tickets even more out of reach. If the NFL continues on this path they'll price themselves out of the market.

good points

I could afford tickets if I really wanted to, but there are so many reasons not to.

1. TV is great
2. I don't really like NFL atmosphere with constant canned music and Hooters girls pretending they are "cheerleaders."
3. Between getting to the game, the length of the game and getting home, it is an all day affair.
4. Sitting inside all day Sunday totally sucks.
5. Food and drink costs are absurd.

Man, I'm with you (and also because I don't cheer for the local team, the Saints). But even if I did, my TV is friggin nice, I have surround sound and hopefully soon will have that sound pumping to my deck outside. Buy some beer, watch TV and enjoy my time with my kids and wife.

Why would I go to a game? Unless I wanted time away from my kids or wife - ha!

I'm going to go the Falcons/Texans game on October 4, honestly just to spend the day with my son (who is 17 and doesn't hang around with me much anymore).

I bought decent (not great) seats, and I'm hoping it's raining that day.

Since I live in Savannah half time, I am also planning on going to the Falcons/Jags game in Jacksonville in December and taking both sons, again, just to hang out with them.

Hoping for nice weather that day because Jax has a nice outdoor stadium.
