Williams (6’1/202) made 30 starts in three years at Utah before turning pro, amassing 11 interceptions and four forced fumbles while working primarily as a center-field, single-high free safety. PFF College also charted Williams with the highest run-stop percentage among all Division-1 safeties in 2016, and the No. 2 tackle efficiency rating. Williams proceeded to blow up the Combine with 93rd-percentile SPARQ results, including an outrageous 43 ½-inch vertical. He also aced the Wonderlic (34) and is young for a rookie, not turning 21 until September. We’re not sure why Williams didn’t generate more pre-draft buzz. He checks boxes across the board as a high-ceiling safety prospect.

How do we know which one to believe?

So is he a good tackler or not?
quote:
Bulls through running lanes crashing into blockers rather than shifting with the contours. Doesn't have athleticism to create early yardage for himself. Missing a functional jump cut for sudden shift from gap to gap once line of scrimmage muddies. Hit or miss with run lanes he chooses. Excessive forward lean creates issues with contact balance. Too easily felled by arm tackles. Banger, but not a tackle breaker. Doesn't have the speed to turn the corner when runs spill outside.

I just don't really know anything about him. Can't say one way or the other about having much of an opinion about him. Kind of disappointed that it wasn't a linebacker or defensive end just because it seems like we have piled up acquisitions at safety, and this means that maybe they aren't very confident in the guys they have. Maybe it's just best value though. I don't scout these players like it is my job, so I wouldn't know. Probably weren't the lb's or de's that they liked there. We'll see how it pans out in the next couple of years.

Don't know why anyone should complain. Can't wait to see our new secondary on the field.

There's always so much conflicting information about every prospect between all of these sites. It's impossible to know who to trust.

He's not going to be laying the wood, but he had one of the best tackling efficiency stats amongst safeties
