I really think Brees, when healthy, is capable of making 95% of the throws he was making in 09-11. And Cooks hasn't been great regardless. But maybe we should give him a few weeks (letting Brees get healthier) before we start busting out the bust label. Add a 65 yard TD to Cooks's stats and things aren't looking so bad. And unless you're watching All-22 (I wish that NFLN would replay all games w/ All-22), who knows how many times this has happened.

Also, I'm as big of a Strief fan as there is on this forum. He has been a legit top 5 RT in the NFL since 2009. But of course he's getting his shite pushed in on this play. Time to make the move to Peat. The whole situation of leaving him on the bench feels like 2012, when we refused to play Junior full time even though he was clearly out best DE.

it seems like most of the passes are mid range plays.

occasionally a homerun play like Spiller's play last night or the attempt to Cooks vs. Carolina.

but nothing like we're used to.

Snead has been solid, I think he'll be a SOLID possession guy going forward. Coleman's snaps have gone down but is that b/c of Snead? I'd say yeah... I guess

That pass would get picked by the safety it looks like. If he were going towards the sideline, it might work, but that safety isn't far away with Cooks being that far away away from Brees.

This is what i was thinking...guy has a 5 yard head start on cooks to where the ball would be placed...single coverage on the out route vs. double on the deep ball

Maybe. To me, the S looks like he's just seeing Cooks and thinking "I have no chance catching up with this guy."

Every one of the guys Brees isnt looking at are open. If Strief could have withheld a few seconds longer, the TE (I assume) down towards the bottom on the 40 is wide open.

Brees Played hurt all last season with a fricked up oblique. A muscle required in a throwing motion.

Now he has a fricked up rotator cuff.

And his stupid ego is so big he refuses to just rehab his shoulder for a week or two and then be 100% healthy. He'd rather trot out there at 60% and look like shite that sit out a game and get healthy. It's really stating to get old and it's horrible to watch.

2 TDs

If that's "looking like shite," I'll take it any day.

If Brees is healthy he burns that safety no doubt. See the NE preseason game. SAME PLAY. And Cooks burned McCourtney as Drew dropped it in from 60yds away.

We need to get Drew over to Germany for some rehab ASAP

That throw to Spiller says 'hi'. He had perfect protection and had the time to throw the pass. Brees is fine. One thing I would like to see are more shot plays early in the game to back off the defenses. They were playing short all game.

I think it has a lot more to do with that defensive end bearing down on him than the safety. Cooks likely burns that safety, and at worse Brees leads him towards out of bounds where the safety really has no chance to get there.

Brees looked very good (other than when he was under significant pressure).

What the hell were you watching?

When good teams who are healthy and don't lose their starting middle lb in the 1st half play drew and realize he can't throw downfield consistently the Saints are fricked. He shouldn't be out there

Yea, I don't think the safety is catching him.

I think Brees just didn't feel comfortable making that kind of throw yet and that is understandable. That can come back with time.

The most telling thing in that picture to me is Strief got owned, and Brees is about to take a hit. Drew is still isn't 100% but he's still very good when the line does their job.

I really think Brees is on a pitch count of sorts. He only has "x" amount of deep throws in him right now.
