I don't think this team can continue to scrape the bottom of the undrafted free agent barrel for WR's and thrive.

Brees can make a lot of players look good, but lack of talent there can make Brees look bad, too.

I think investment needs to be made here, and it's overdue.

Colston is a solid WR, but not explosive. Moore overachieves.

That's all the Saints have. If you cut all the other WR's, honestly, you could replace them in a day. They're unspectacular.

For a team that throws as much as the Saints do, the lack of talent at WR is shocking.

I think Marcus Davis from VT would be a good 4th rd grab(if still available). Also agree with Blues, Russell Sheppard wouldn't be a bad late rd pick either.

I don't see Russel playing in the NFL at all. Don't see him making a team, maybe a practice squad. He doesn't have good natural skills as a receiver. He is horrible when the ball is in the air, bad hands as well and no presence as a WR. It's a shame but he just doesn't have it.

On Madden 13 I released Henderson, signed Danny Amendola for very cheap. Then, the Vikings released Percy Harvin, and I signed him to a 1 year contract for less than 2 million. Lets do this.

Wouldn't it be nice if Saleem Hakim could turn into something. 4.31/40 would be the fastest player in the Payton era. Imagine what Sean could come up with for him if he can catch and run a route.

Yep.

Can you imagine if Brees had someone like Megatron? Or better yet, a combo package like the Falcons? Just think about Brees throwing to Roddy White, Julio Jones and Tony Gonzales. He'd have 6,500 yards a season.

Since you're such an expert, I shouldn't point out that LSU's offense ranked 82nd in the nation and most experts (certainly not of your statue) blame it on the QB. I guess it's a damn shame they had to go and get another OC because of Sheppard.

Nothing you're saying makes Russell Sheppard a viable draft option. He wasn't even invited to the NFL combine, which means scouts apparent aren't high on him either.

I re-read my post and didn't find anywhere in it that I said he was. My point was that no body for sure knows what Sheppard will do when given a chance to catch the ball from a real QB. If Calvin Johnson had to play with Mettenberger, he wouldn't have been invited to the combine either.

Here's the funny thing about NFL scouts: if you've got talent, they will find you. They always find you. It's how players like Colston from Hofstra make it to the NFL. Reuben Randle was selected in the second round despite catching passes from Jordan Jefferson and Jarrett Lee.

It's time to accept that Shepard, while very much hyped as a 5* coming to LSU, didn't pan out to his projected ability. And that's ok. It happens. You can blame Mett as much as you want, but at some point, people are going to have to accept that Shepard may not be the player they wanted him to be. Look at his performance in the Senior Bowl- zero catches. Zero. And Mett/JJ/JL was not on the field that day. He caught six passes this season, and just one in SEC play.

I understand Les Miles runs a conservative offense, but Odell Beckham managed 43 receptions while Jarvis Landry caught 56. Hell, even Kadron Boone and James Wright had more catches this season. Accept that Shepard is not some NFL first round talent who was squashed by Miles. Reality smells so much better.
