The accusation that he gave a girl ecstasy in Vegas?

Please

quote:

Reggie, yeah. No, I didn’t see him put it in the drink. He told me. And he said he was handing it to people, in Vegas,” Licciardi said, adding, “He asked me if I wanted some. And I was like, ‘I don’t do that stuff.’”

Yes. Bring Reggie in. He would be a good leader and would get the fans fired up. He still has stuff left in the tank and would be a good 3rd back. Do it.

We could use another Sproles/Bush-type back...but likely can't afford one.

We need to identify a quality back in the 2rd/3rd round area and let Ingram move on.

PT is still good on 3rd downs getting tough yardage and is still money on screens.....However one thing that we did miss this past season with no Sproles in the rotation is a quick twitch runner and receiver out of the backfield......They tried to make Cadet into that player, and he didn't do terrible, but he did show why he was not drafted......That position/role definitely needs to be upgraded, the only questions are how much money would Reggie come back for, and is there another FA that might be cheaper, or is there a rookie(s) that we are targeting that could fill that role for cheap for the next 4 years?

I agree, even if it is just for depth. I love PT out of the backfield, but he just hasn't been able to stay healthy for us. We need someone who can come in when he's knocked out, but also brings a different type of passing game threat.

Robinson and Ingram have the exact same role, but Robinson essentially costs us nothing with the 52 man cap rules. I love the way Ingram has run the last 2.5 years, but I just don't think it is the right move to re-sign him for what I think he'll demand at well over $3 million/year.

I think we can add Reggie + draft a guy late and come out well ahead against the cap while having a more dynamic attack.

and you propose bringing in reggie bush, who was never healthy his whole career? heck, lets bring back devery, I am sure he can still run fast.

time to get out of this mindset that if someone played for the 2009 saints he can comeback to the team. its cost us dearly the last few years. time to get some fresh blood.bringing back reggie does nothing but ties up a spot that a younger cheaper player can take.

That's really what it comes down to. While I agree that he's got some stuff left in the tank, he is getting old, and he's got a history with being unhealthy. So, making big moves to bring him back? No. Getting him back on the cheap and seeing where it goes? Bout dat action boss.

Woohoo 10 year vet can come in and take some of PT's 9 years a vet playing time f@cking championship

Would be more concerned about Ingrams 255 touches that may need to be replaced in the next month than a guy almost out of the league.

Would also rather draft a RB in later rounds who's faster and can play in all 16 games next year. Will be cheaper as well.

Yes, we wouldn't need him to be healthy all year. I basically addressed that in the post you replied to

quote:

heck, lets bring back devery, I am sure he can still run fast.

Yea, exact same thing.

quote:

its cost us dearly the last few years. time to get some fresh blood

Uh, we did the exact opposite last year and let some vets go. There's something to be said for veteran leadership in the locker room that people have said was missing this year.

quote:

bringing back reggie does nothing but ties up a spot that a younger cheaper player can take.

I'd rather use that draft pick on an Ingram replacement than a third down back. I'm not suggesting breaking the bank at all on Reggie . If anything, I'm suggesting a cheaper alternative that adds depth and looks to the future for our every down back at good value.

If he's equal to Henderson, why do you think he'll be expensive?

I don't think any of this matters. Guys has a Superbowl ring, he doesn't need to chase that anymore. What he needs is to squeeze as much money as he can out of whatever years he has left (which ain't much). That is literally the opposite of what we are looking to do... hire older expensive vets with partially empty tanks looking to maximize their final years of earning potential.

IMO, Bush was underrated as a Saint. Yes, he had some struggles early on. But look at all the playoff games during the SB run. If he wasn't returning punts for TD's or breaking ankles on long runs, he was incredibly valuable in the passing game. Both in terms of production and as a decoy.

Watching his last couple seasons with the Lions, he still has that capability to be a big part of our game plan, even as a 3rd down back. His only downfall is staying healthy, unfortuanlety. Would still take him if the price is right.

100%.... that first TD run against the Cardinals is one of my favorite moments in Saints history. I literally bought my tickets to NOLA for the NFCC game right after he took that to the house.

I think its lazy for fans and media (as im watching the news right now) to link him back to us. His ego isn't going to let him take less money to come back here. Not to mention he has once again proved to be unreliable with his health.

I agree 100%. Saints fans are nostalgic for some reason. Dude was pretty mediocre in this offense and routinely got outplayed by street free agents. He was a decent niche player at best.

quote:

Antone Smith is 6months younger, and only has 46 career touches in the NFL. He's an under the radar type with big play ability in both the passing and running game, that we can probably get for pretty cheap, because he doesn't have much bargaining power. I know Atlanta wants him back, but maybe a little bit more money may sway him.

Yeah Id like that signing. kind of reminds me of the michael turner situation, just he is a smaller guy. I think he can be a weapon in the right situation.
