Mainstays:

Drew Brees
Terron Armstead
Cam Jordan
Zach Strief
Max Unger
Delvin Breaux
Thomas Morstead

Good with a chance to be great:

Michael Thomas (He's already impressive and keeps impressing)
Brandin Cooks
Craig Robertson
Sterling Moore
Coby Fleener (I put Fleener in here because I think Drew Brees will get in his ear and get him going)
P. J. Williams (Extremely athletic, aggressive and physical corner...please get healthy after the injury)
Kenny Vaccaro
Nick Fairley (He seems to have been a presence here...he's on the cusp of this tier and the okay tier)

Okay with a chance to be good:

Tommy Lee Lewis
Ken Crawley
Tyeler Davison
Daniel Lasco
Senio Kelemete
Michael Mauti (May just be a special teamer, but could be a mainstay on the unit)
Will Lutz (Has the leg talent and distance to do special things...could elevate to the next level)
Vonn Bell (Bell could elevate into the next tier with more playing time and added muscle to his frame)
Brandon Coleman

There are other players to be optimistic about. Hau'oli Kikaha and Sheldon Rankins, for instance. I saw good things from Kikaha last year and being that Rankins is a first round pick, I have high hopes for him (all indications were that he was having a good camp).

The Saints do need to add quality depth along the lines. We need guards, we need defensive ends and a middle linebacker. Same old story. With cap space and another draft next year, this should be the year we can finish retooling except at QB. Although, it's sad to say, I think the Saints have squandered the best of Drew Brees for a while now.

I had Stephone Anthony and Andrus Peat in the okay with a chance to be good category, but I need to see more and better play from them. We should not be saying that about first round picks from a year ago.

Kikaha is never gonna do anything.

too small to play DE, can't cover as a LB.

oh and the 3 ACL tears.

Davidson is good. Our run defense was very good the first two games and he was a big part of that. The Falcons were able to run it up the middle at will with him out.

If mainstays means one of our better players I would add Fairly and Vacarro (year 1 and 4 version).

Moore seems average and I don't see him heading to great.

Okay with a chance to be good:

Would only remove Coleman as I don't think he will ever be "good".

Coleman isn't consistent right now, but he had a very good game.

I think there are some things on Fleener's side here--Drew Brees needs a TE, the Saints use the TE a lot, and Fleener looked the part finally. It's only Week 3, but I'm going to give Fleener the benefit of the doubt and I think he can be great for the Saints.

I may have over-ranked Moore, but he was stout against OBJ and he was good on Monday night. He's on his sixth team in six years, but he's physical and can make a play on the ball. I like him as a third CB...so maybe "great" is an exaggeration.

Somebody mentioned Fairley...I don't think he's a mainstay yet but he is playing his way toward it.

Coleman showed some solid play on Monday night and he showed good effort in the loss to the Giants, even though he didn't make the plays. He might be a decent work the middle receiver and that's okay. If he can develop into that, I'll consider him "good".

Not sure I'd go that far. Personally I would rather have Swann there, I love what I saw from him while healthy last year.

2 ACL tears, first one had an unsuccessful surgery and required a 2nd

If only there was a place in the NFL for rushing the passer, even if it would be situationally

He dropped because of his injury history.

I'd take TM7 right now with his knee history. Wouldn't think twice about it. ***

***Note: note saying Kikaha is as good as All-pro TM7

Rob Ryan is utilizing Kikaha in a way that caters to his strengths. He’s currently the second highest graded Saints defensive player at +5.1, only behind Cam Jordan’s +8.6. Here’s a comparison of their output through four weeks of play.

He's a football player.

One of the best LBs in the NFL right now came back from 3 ACL tears.

Just saying, it can be done

Michael Thomas will emerge as our elite WR1. Dude is fast, tough, and has great hands. He's the complete package

We're set at WR and that's basically it. QB with Brees is obviously the answer but he's a couple years shy of 40 and we've got no one behind him. This roster honestly needs to be gutted badly, scouting department and front office as well.

Mark Ingram, Brandin Cooks, Willie Snead, and Michael Thomas will be fine weapons for any QB to come in and inherit but we have to fix the OL and we need a mass exodus on the defensive side of the ball. I would say trade Cam Jordan while he still has value and get some decent round picks for him. I would even go the St. Louis Rams route and keep going DL until you've got 4-5 guys that can just come in and go after the QB.

We already gutted the roster and brought in young talent

This team has more talent than it appears due to all the starters out:

Rankins
Robertson
Breaux
Davison
Bell
Cooks
Crawley
Edebali
Peat
Snead
Thomas
Vaccaro
Kikaha
Williams
Swann

To go along with guys like Brees, Armstead, Jordan, Unger, Strief, Fairely, Ingram, etc.

We need a DE, a RG, and a MLB if Anthony can't take over. Everything else is depth.

but we have to fix the OL

OL has honestly been a huge strength for us with Armstead. We need to fix 1 position in the immediate future (RG), and put Kelemete and Tim in backup roles where they have value

At the game on Monday night and Drew appeared to short arm many throws. Didn't appear to as effective as he use to be. Just my opinion.

He looked uncomfortable back there for sure. That is what pressure does, especially when the D knows you're gonna pass it.

He still had a great game. He's playing some of the best ball of his career right now.
